Linda's Story
I'm in a very Happy time in my life and try to enjoy it to the fullest. I have lost 100 pounds over the past year and feel healthier than I have in years. Love, love life! Never had children of my own, but have so, so many in my life! I truly believe children have so much to say if we would just stop what we are doing and take the time to listen! With 5 neices and nephews and 11 great nieces and nephews, I do a lot of listening. I've earned my lience plate, "Antee 1".
Pray, read, enjoy time with freinds and family. It helps to talk to my Cocker, Suzy Q
Why this sticks out in my mind, I don't know but it does. I went to a party/bbq and this guy kept giving me beer. Since I wanted to be cool and I didn't like beer at the time, when no one was looking, I would dump it out in the garden. I can't even remember the guy, but he couldn't believe how much I could drink without getting drunk. Now I look back and can't believe all the money I wasted over the years trying to act cool. Needless to say, I wasn't very wild.
Most of my inspiration comes from the children in my life and the next generation coming up. I want so much to stress to them that everything can't always be handed to them and that it is worth so much more when they work for it and achive it on there own.
So when I have my little niece or any of the kids tells me how much they love me and how important I am to them, that inspires me. The kids are the inspiration that helps me keep striving to lose weight. Yea, Kids/our young adults is where I get most of my inspiration and they are my hero's. If I can make a child smile or make them feel good about themself, yea!
I was born in Bellflower and have always lived in Lakewood. When I got married, I moved real far away, Bellflower. I'm happy in Lakewood and I'm enjoying fixing up the house I grew up in. It helps, no house payments. I don't know how young couples
starting out do it.
When I was growing up, I wanted a house full of kids. When I was married, I wanted kids so, so bad, that I couldn't be around people with babies. After 5 years of marriage and no children, we went our seprate ways and I figured out that I had children in my life right in front of my nose. Not my own, but kids I loved and loved me. God just keeps...Expand for more
giving me more kids through family, friends and reaching out to children, teaching Sunday school. Sometimes, things that seem to be hard to except at the time turn into blessings.
Mr. Rogers, some kind of history class. He was one of the first black teachers that I can remember teaching at Lakewood. Thank God, we have come along ways since then. I look back and relieze how patient he was with me and how much I learned about life and getting along. I can remember asking a question in class and a kid sitting behind me saying outload what a stupid question it was. I turned around and kinda told him off and Mr. Rogers told the class, the only stupid question is the question not asked. If you don't ask, you will never know the answer. I live by that now ?? years later. After that, I remember I started getting along with the kid that sat behind me.
I was in a club in High School, Athena. It was fun, but I found out later it was too clickie for me. I guess I liked everyone, even though I wasn't very popular, just there. I hated seeing people being picked on.
I'm pretty happy at this point in my life, but would like to spend less time working and more time playing.
I guess I like my job. Iv'e been working for the same company, Al Larson Boat Shop for the past 25 years.
The company is on Terminal Island, LA Harbor and my office looks over the harbor. We repair SHIPS. We are talking Big Ships. Fireboats, Coast Guard, Navy, Tugs, big ships.
I work in the office doing everything that gets dumped on me. Actually, bookkeeping/accounting.
The company has been around for 105 years.
My first real crush was in the 6th grade. That's all I'll say.
My do-over would to spend more time on studying and less time on trying to fit in.
Funny, I still dress pretty much the same. Jeans. It seems like the way I dress never goes out of style. Styles have come full cycle. I love retro.
I love sports, mostly watching sports. Golf and football. I do like to go to a Angel game once in awhile, but mostly for the excitment and the junk food! I love my Cocker, Suzy Q. No none has ever gotton so excited to see me when I come home. When I go away, I call her and leave messages on the phone so she can hear my voice. I guess that is an obsession or just being weird.
