Linda's Story
HI y'all!
I live in Alpharetta, Georgia, a town north of Atlanta. My married daughter and my son-in-law live not to far away, as does my son. I enjoy being able to still spend time with them. My husband lives in Washington D.C., working for CNN, getting down here whenever he can and that's just for starters for my somewhat unorthodox life. I worked at a school for the deaf and blind as a house parent for four years before getting married 38 years ago and came with my husband across country, studied drama, raised two children, learned belly dancing--I'm starting to get brave enough to not keep it a secret. I am a storyteller and belong to the Southern Order of Storytellers (SOS). My latest love is playing the harp, and I play guitar, hammer dulcimer, and Native American Flute (NAF). I"d love to own a RV as I go to dulcimer, folk music workshops, storytelling events and powwows whenever I can. r awhile and I always enjoy trying new things. I ice skated for a few years until an old foot injury caught up with me.Usually, when the kids were growing up, I cooked dinner, made Halloween costumes, ran errands, and cleaned house, the ordinary things of the everyday housewife stay at home mother, picking up a degree in Psychology along the way. I worked part time at the public library for about 9 1/2 years and now substitute teach.I interpret for the Deaf on Sundays at church. I've taught singing in vacation bible school and preschool, sign language to adults, and teens, mainly, acting and have directed plays a few times,--my favorite of all things to do. I earned a master's degree in Special education;I love teaching and look forward to being in the classroom again as a full-time teacher. I've become a Stephen Ministry leader just this month (June 2015). Most of my time is spent in babysitting my grandson, Tommy the terrific toddler. And that's what I've been up to!
