Linda's Story
Dear friends,
I am currently retired from a career as a bilingual elementary school teacher. I live in the country in Aromas where I have lived for almost 40 years.
I married a fellow Carlmont alumnus named Kent Child (class of 60) to whom I was married for 22 years and with whom I had two daughters. We divorced. I had a few years as a single woman, during which time I figured out some interesting things about myself. Then, I met the love of my life, Thom McCue, to whom I am now married. He has two children, a son and daughter, so together we have four. His kids were six and nine when we met, so I got to help raise them. All our kids are now grown and happily on their own and finished with their education.
While married to Kent, I did a lot of farm...Expand for more
ing on the property here in Aromas. Now, I just plant trees, flowers and vegetables and enjoy it.
Since retiring, I have begun doing some interesting things. I have two grandsons, who I see regularly and adore. I sing with a group called Threshold Choir, which sings at bedsides of people who are struggling with living and dying. And I facilitate Alternatives to Violence workshops in prisons. I am also active in our local Quaker Meeting.
Thom and I travel as often as we can and enjoy having adventures together. We have been to Italy, Costa Rica (lived there a year), Mexico several times, England, Ireland, Spain(for six months) , New Zealand and Australia.
We love to get together with friends and sing folk songs.
My life is full and challenging.
