Lisa's Story
Life
Moved to Florida right after graduation. I was married in 1983, have two beautiful girls, Brittany age 15 and Natalie age 18, and have been married to Dean for 21 years. Worked in County Government for 13 years and I currently work for a city fire department as a Administrative Assistant II to our Fire Chief. I live in Central Florida in a small town called DeBary approximatley 35 miles south of Daytona Beach and 35 miles north of Orlando, Florida and love it! I enjoy line dancing, and riding my Harley (1993 Dyna Wide Glide) and spending time with my family.
For those of you who attended the 25 Year Class Reunion...If I look like a Biker Babe...you're right...I am and proud of it. I'm not the shy, quiet nobody I was in school and I like who I am and who I have become...come on...I live in Florida, a state that I can ride almost year round, and who in their right mind wouldn't!!! Hope everybody had a good time at the reunion and I enjoyed seeing some old friends that I haven't seen in 20 years.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me...
Oh yeah...my nickname given to me when I moved here is "Legs", unlike the ones I had in high School!
Take care all and don't freeze your buns off!!! LOL
School
What is there to say...I think my most favorite time in High School was being a Varsity Cheerleader during my Senior year after trying out almost every year. I wasn't popular by any means before (proof of that from the reunion) or even after becoming a cheerleader because I didn't hang with the "click" but with my friends. I will always remember the fun I had at the hockey games and Burger King afterwards. I had 2 very good friends in high school, and I will never forget them. As for my biggest crush...that lasted from the 8th grade all the way through high school, but "friends" is all we ever were, and he knew I had a crush on him (or did he?) Well, TMB, if you didn't know then, and you recognize your intials, you will now! LOL High School was good, had great teachers and everything, but to even think of going through that again, NO WAY, I see what my kids are going through in ...Expand for more
todays life, not in this lifetime would I ever do it again.
Life was simple back then, and it's way too complicated these days...besides there is no way I would ever pass math again! I hated then and I hate it now!
Thanks for the great memories South Lake...the football, hockey and basketball games, gymnastics, cheerleading, Burger King, car washes, Mr. Tony's...what more could I say. I am who I am because of my experiences and lack of them in high school...never dated, but did go on the senior trip and met a really nice guy who ended up asking me to prom. Thanks Dino! Too bad he let his friends "raz" him, and that was that.
The old saying is "Good things come to those who wait", for those who were too impatient to wait, should of waited...your loss!
Workplace
Well, after being an Administrative Assistant for almost 20 years, I have decided to make a change in my life. Over the last 2 years I have been trained in many different areas. I was a BLS Instructor (CPR Instructor), Basic First Aid Instructor, Child Passenger Safety Seat Technician, Basic Telecommunicator/Emergency Medical Dispatcher. So...I have decided to change my field of work and will become a Full time 911 Telecommunicator (Dispatcher) for the fire department that I am currently employed with.
Wish me luck!
UPDATE: I've been working as a dispatcher for 9 months now and love it. I work a night shift right now...6p.m. to 6 a.m. I get a couple days off during the week and a 3 day weekend every other weekend. It's really a great job in the respect that I send help to people who need assistance.
UPDATE: Well, have been at my new job for almost 6 months now and lovin life. I work the night shift from 6pm to 6am, I work 2 days then off 2 days. I have a three day weekend off every other weekend. I can go and do things during the day that I've never been able to do before, like the beach, ride my motorcycle if I want, grocery shopping early in the day, have lunch with my husband etc. The downside is that usually my first day home I sleep alot. The upside is I have more free time to get things done. LOVE IT!
