Lisa's Story

Lisa is from the Southwest. She is single. Her schools include Judson School, Scudder Oaks Country School, Scottsdale Community College, University of Oregon, trade schools for technical certifications from Cisco Systems, Novell, IBM, Stromberg Carlson, Mitel, LPIC, Real Estate Law, NCIS. At Judson, Lisa spend 5th Grade shadowed by Corrina Scripps, a Spanish speaking girl attending, without the benefit of English skills, with her younger sister, who had been adopted into Scripps Howard newspaper magnate after family tragedy. A short relationship with Avey Gonzales from Lima Peru, expanded Lisa's appreciation for dating respect from a chivalrous Peruvian. Experiencing "Western culture" meant 5 day trail rides, cowboys/cowgirls from families where calf roping, hayrides and ranch life were the foundations that built America. Young Native American tribal women arrived, wild and free, with full regalia and exquisite horses funded from Oil/Gas development reservation subsidies, ensuring the most important assets to their way of life "women" were protected from the generational effects of genocide. We studied along side International students from Saudi Arabia/Jordan where their fathers served as American industrial officials. Christian Mancini, son of Henri Mancini entertained at the Phoenix Playboy Club where he was a Key holder. Niece and daughter of musician group 3 Dog Night were allowed a stable life while rock and roll demanded touring. Mercer and Messenger family children (well known for Mortuaries in Phoenix) were among the growing number of day students, as Judson educational model evolved. In the first week of 8th Grade classes, Lisa refused to vote for Class Officers, nominated by the teacher, that were not personally known to the students, but were the School owner John Wick's daughter and another new popular Teacher's daughter. After stating politely that she was not willing to participate with the class officer vote, Lisa was immediately removed to the "B" class despite Stanford Binet IQ placement assessment and 4.0 grades. Lisa was subsequently pushed directly to Sophmore, skipping Freshman classes the next year. However, in the "B" 8th grade class, Lisa, spent most of the year fast forwarding through required study, with science/sports teacher Mr. Hansen, motivating so called "B" students, including the Tapernoux family friend John, to participate in Rocket building, which became pivotal in life's choice of profession as a pilot in Arizona. Hansen also encouraged everyone to play chess every day, allowing for exquisite brain development. We laughed and jockeyed in game after game of speed chess, often while we listened to long, painfully simple l...Expand for more
ectures drifting from windows of the "A" class across the yard, which consistently centered on or were important to the "soch" personality type. Lisa, scholastically able to complete 12th grade work due to former educational model at Scudder Oaks Country School (which later would become a model for the Charter Schools) based on avante guard, self paced/mentorship, and group play, providing for the ability for students to work in teams at their own speeds through a larger volume of textbooks than was available in American Southwest Public schools during those years was able to easily move directly to Sophmore math. Lisa was well known for regular column submissions to the Class Newspaper that often included poetry in a style to rival Alan Watts, which Lisa embarrassed her older sisters reciting in early"talent Shows" that rivaled what would become Performance Art in America. Drama and theater at Judson opened the doors for student use of the big Gym/Theatre for more than the typically unsuccessful sports with Verde Valley, Brophy and Camp Creek private schools. Very swiftly the Gym/Theatre scene was painted with this unusual groups of international teenagers dancing to live local bands playing songs like Luie Luai, wearing mini shirts and 70's Twiggy makeup and huge teased hair, including the typical high school experience of stepping past students vomiting Sloe Gin in the bathrooms. School at Judson during those years meant we enjoyed the ability to either ride a horse or swim for physical exercise. Lisa was a member of the (laughable) Olympic bound Synchronized Swimming Team, which was preferable to forcing unwilling school horses out across acres of what would soon become prime real estate and return dirty and worse, usually with the horse making all the decisions. Modern dance, avante guarde art extraordinaire brought out the best in us, as we faced the hope alive in Peter Max American culture finding expressions for truth we didn't know existed. Incredible lifelong family friends and Arizona natives include Gigi aka "Rodchester" Tapernoux, who brought out the best in me through those years at Judson, always with one of her brothers Peter, John and Tom, Mother or Grandfather who played chess with my father. Later after many years apart, when my father and her Grandfather had died, Gigi learned that I was terminally ill as the result of trauma in a hospital in Oregon, and immediately made arrangements to leave her life here in Tempe to sit at my hospital bedside in 2001, demanding a pivotal role, that would ensure that I survived. Such are the connections that came from our days at Judson. For more about Lisa Bellerue Kachold today, just ask Google!
