Lisa's Story
6/13/13--It's been almost two years since Steve died. I miss him every day. On 6/27/11 at 1a Steve died from kidney cancer or renal cell carcinoma. He was told he had 6mths to 5yrs to live. He lived 5yrs 1mth and 15days. Steve died peacefully at home with family surrounding him.
I live in Seattle, WA. I married Steve Brown in 1998. He was the motorcycle racer I dated in 11th grade. In May 2006, Steve was diagnosed with terminal kidney cancer or RCC, renal cell carcinoma that metastasized to his lungs, brain and bones. of things financially so that we didn't end up on the streets. How many 50yr men can die and leave their family okay? I am a grandma to three: one grandson and two granddaughters. Both my oldest daughters, 23 & 19, are married and on their own and doing well. Seems I did parenting right...I wondered all those years of raising those two. Now I have one and she's turning into a beautiful young woman. I volunteer her school mostly in the choir department. My heart has always been with music. I'm trying to figure out what my next career is. I spent 25yrs behind a court reporting machine and that career is now over. Since breaking my leg, I can't sit for long periods of time. And I am not in the least bummed out about not being a court reporter or CART provider or a broadcast captioner anymore. My heart was never into that job. CANCER SUCKS!!!!
