Lisa's Story
Life
I have been happily married to my college sweetheart for 32 years. We have 3 children, 2 girls ages 29 and 24, and a boy, age 27. All three have graduated from college, so economically....Ouch! Emotionally, also OUCH! My kids are interesting and wonderful to be around and it sure is lonely with them gone. Life before they were gone included a 12 year stint traveling the country with the Air Force before settling in Arizona. I have a college degree in English, but I have spent the last 32 years coaching swim teams around the country. (Yes, Dad, I am using my degree. I spend a lot of time correcting the grammar of my swimmers.) All three of my children swam on my teams, with my son and younger daughter continuing their swimming careers at Northwestern University. wim. For the past 11 years I have been roped into competing as well. I also competed in an Ironman competition as the swimming leg of the Vineman Ironman relay.
I love animals and currently have 6 pets. I would have more pets, but I fear I would no longer have a husband if I brought home any more! He didn't sign on for a zoo! I took up watercolor painting five years ago and I love it. I have my first painting in a show in Olympic National Park. I have no artistic talents, so when I come up with a painting that works, I am elated for weeks! I love camping in the Sierras and travel to Calif yearly to relax in the mountains. I also still love Gordon Lightfoot and have become a groupie in my middle age. I wait for him after concerts and have talked with him several times. I even got to go backstage at a concert on Mother's Day! Nice man, great singer.
