Lisa's Story

Life For those of you who didn't attend the class of 86 reunion: shame on you and be sure to attend the next one! :P Life carries on much as usual, still with the UK Trade Organization, still happy with my job there. No plans to return to teaching if I can help it! Bought an adorable condo in Spring Branch a couple of years ago and am so in love with it, I really enjoy being home when I can. Romantically, I'm on the meat market STILL, but not really bothered about it anymore. If Mr Right appears, great, but otherwise I'm very content with my career, my home, my friends and family, my hobbies. I have been getting back into yoga the past year and it's the best thing in the world. I must fess up to my internet addiction of downloading tv shows from Britain-- I hardly ever turn on the tv to watch American shows anymore. Favourite is Big Brother, the best thing I've ever watched in my life! I've learned a helluva lot about British culture and accents by watching that show, I tell you! The only travel I've done this year was to Boston to see Madonna in concert and check out the city, which was great. Will probably go visit Torrie in Alabama this fall. No exotic adventures this year although in the next few years I'd like to visit Turkey, Slovenia, Croatia, the Caribbean and Scotland. Hopefully work will provide some good travel opportunities 'n all! Oh my parents moved to Sugarland from the Meadows this year and live in a lovely house on a lake. Krista lives inside the loop and is working at Baylor College of Medicine. Jolie our sweet cockapoo died in 1987 and we still miss her madly. No pets for me now, though, since I'm not home enough to deserve one! School The teacher who most inspired me must be Madame Ivy, for I became a high school Fre...Expand for more
nch teacher myself! I wasn't particularly funny or crazy in school so I can't recall any wild stories. In fact, I was such a goody-goody that I used to get really angry if I found out my friends were drinking or smoking. (But you know what? I still agree, teenagers needn't be screwing up their lives that early.) Anyway, I surrounded myself with lovely, funny, wacky friends so I still had a brilliant time despite the fact I was relatively well-behaved. Great memories of cruising Westheimer-- along with the entire high school population of Houston; wrapping houses; prank calling cute guys; passing notes during and in-between classes; working at Sweetwater Country Club; dates at the Transco Tower Park; and three proms! College I really was quite a 2%-er at Texas A&M: never got a ring and quit attending football games after two years... just couldn't be bothered to attend yell practice or elephant walk, and I found Bonfire a colossal waste of energy and time! That said, I had a fantastic time at TAMU and even went back after graduation to do my teaching certification. I totally adored the staff and students in the the foreign language department (I majored in French and Russian) as well as my buddies from Aggie Cinema. Working in the language lab was also lots of fun. I was somewhat active with Aggie Democrats during Dukakis and Clinton campaigns. I still try to keep in touch with my fellow students, especially the ones with whom I studied in Moscow in 1990. Since TAMU I have taken a lot of classes at HCC, got a web design certification, and I also spent a summer in Philadelphia at Bryn Mawr University in an intensive Russian course sponsored by NEH. I like learning so I try to enroll in courses regularly for personal enrichment and fun!
