orked at 7 WTC for Salomon Brothers, Inc. as a Secretary in the Generalist Associate Group and Sophie worked as an accountant for KPMG Peat Marwick. In 1993, I moved to Woodbridge (Iselin), NJ to live with Doug who worked as a Chemical Engineer for Exxon Mobil, Inc. in Linden, NJ (it is the large refinery that can be seen off the NJ Turnpike). I continued to commute to NY to work as work-flow coordinator at Salomon Brothers, which became Salomon Smith Barney (SSB) and relocated to 388 Greenwich Street. In August 1995, I married Doug after dating for four years and living together for an additional two years. Sophie was my maid-of-honor and Doug and I honeymooned in Greece with both a land and cruise tour. (NOW PROFILE PICTURE - This way you can see my hubby, the reason for the name change, and anyway there's no way I'm putting a current picture after having two kids :-) In 1997, we bought our first home in East Brunswick, NJ. Doug continued to work at the Linden Refinery which became Tosco Refining Corp. and I continued working as an Expense Reimbursement Analyst for SSB which became Travelers Citigroup. In October 1998, I gave birth to our daughter, Laura Amber Mickity. After her birth, I decided to work part-time at Citigroup as a secretarial floater and worked three full-days a week. This was a great balance of child-rearing/family time and work/socialization (thank god, 9/11 was on my day off). In 2001, we moved to Merrick, Long Island, which is close to Jones Beach, after Doug got a new job with Petro-Chem, a fire-heater company, in mid-Manhattan by Grand Central. We bought a house six blocks away from my mother, who helped with daycare on my work days. In September 2002, I gave birth to my son, Keith Garrett Mickity. After his birth, we determined that we could afford for me not to work outside the home so I became a stay-at-home mom. In order to remain near family but have more family time and less business travel, Doug makes a long commute to NJ after he went back to work at the Linden Refinery now owned by ConocoPhillips. I still keep-in-touch with Sophie who lives in Upper Manhattan and works as an accountant for a private school. As of 2017, nothing has changed except everyone is "old" :-) and Laura is now a Sophomore at FIT for Product Design and Keith is a Sophomore at Laura's old high school. To summarize, I have a 22-year marriage to Douglas Mickity, we have two children (Laura 19 & Keith 15), and I am now a stay-home-mom living in Merrick, Long Island, NY. (updated 12/2017)
