"Do not grieve....Misfortunes will happen to the wisest and best of men. Death will come, always out of season. It is the command of the Great Spirit, and all nations and people must obey. What is past and what cannot be prevented should not be grieved for..." Big Elk Omaha Chief The way you live determines the way you live." Greg P. "This ain't Burger King - you can't have it your way." Janice C. "If by a liberal they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people - their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, their civil liberties...if that is what they mean by a 'liberal', then I am proud to be a liberal." - John Fitzgerald Kennedy "When Fascism comes to America, it will be draped with the American flag and carrying a cross." - Sinclair Lewis "Better to keep your mouth shut and wonder if other people think that you're stupid, than to open it and remove all doubt." - Mark Twain "All men should strive to learn before they die, what they are running from, and to, and why." - James Thurber* A report of child abuse is made every ten seconds. * Almost five children die everyday as a result of child abuse. More about Lisa:"What you want, Give. Often times, members of the same family don't necessarily grow up underneath the same roof. In the early clean days (circa '88 & '89) the most accurate description of me became verbalized which is with precision and it goes like this here: "She's just a marshmellow dressed up in barbed wire." "We cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home." - Edward R. Murrow "We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. When the loyal opposition dies, I think the soul of America dies with it." - Edward R. Murrow ------------------------/ Had a really rough start in this life - Dad was killed in a head-on collision the same week I turned 6 years old and found Mom dead from an overdose on sleeping pills six months later the day before beginning the first grade. My first child died at 53 days of age from a heart attack caused by her having had a congenital heart defect. Got my BS degree in Industrial Safety the same year my baby girl lived and died and have yet to work in that field. Was inspired to do so since Dad was killed during the course of his employment as an OTR truckdriver; had it not been for his Soc Sec and life insurance, more than likely wouldn't have been able to afford to go onto college out of high school. Had some folks take care of my bros and me along the way; most of which were first motivated by the $$ involved, and less (if any) concern about whether we'd heal up from such a tragic life start. Went to High School in the Mid-Missouri area in 2 different schools in which both I was basically a "so-called" 'nobody' and I guess that's not all that much different 3+ decades later. I'm no politician, but I sure do have some "views". Healing up from some multi...Expand for more
ple, blunt-force mental and emotional traumas that occurred between June 1, 2002 and March 9, 2005 that, as the "professionals" have declared would definately have had most folks permanently institutionalized for life. I like to spend my time improving the environment that I live in and aspire to make the world in general a better place than what I inherited from the onset. That includes a vast array of things such as manicuring the lawn and garden that my son, Levi, & the 4-legged people/dogs named Festus III and Joker, and recently, we've acquired a tuxedo cat (think Sylvester on Looney Tunes - how ironic) named Capernicus. Capernicus acts more like a dog, though, so he's completely unaware that he's different from the other 4-legged's. Got an adopted daughter, Desiree that found her Mom same way I did mine on the last day of their lives. Dizzy is a healer that does not take the place of Danielle, but then she need not do so, anyway. When life chucks lemons atcha, then get busy and make some lemonade, y'all! Anyway, we all live in somewhat of a state of harmony (it is all relative, though) and actively recycle things that otherwise would be irresponsibly discarded in a landfill someplace out of sight/ out of mind for many people. Enjoy celebrating the successes of the people in my life, myself included, which often involves having cookouts at our house and just good 'ole fashioned fellowship wherever and whenever possible. Like to listen to live music and more than likely will go out of my way to uplift the underdogs of the planet on any given day in any possible way imaginable. That also involves the transcending the typical barriers of old that separate we, as people according to class, socio-economic, race, religion, creed, gender-preferences, etc. to just mention a few pigeon-holing that goes on to encourage the divisiveness that goes on from the top down to "the least of these" to keep the ones at the bottom "toeing the line" and "in line" and under control. --Some novel ideas.... Don't believe in Gay Marriage? Antidote=Don't marry a gay person Don't believe in Abortion? Antidote=Don't get an abortion _____________________________________________________ If I "over-react", then it most likely means that I'm over-compensating for a long-time pattern of appearing to be a pushover or my kindness being mistaken for stupidity. My nickname, Country Lisa, is a good cover in that the stereotype tends to give the initial impression that I'm some kind of dumbass that just fell off the turnip truck. Clue phone ringing here: I've never even SEEN a turnip truck... Now, just follow where that path takes ya.... That kindness thing? That does NOT mean that you can have free reign to just mow right through and use me as a personal emotional punching bag. Quite the opposite, actually. If you're on here just to add me as a friend to up your friend count, then don't stop here...just keep on going...now, GIT!!! M.Scott Peck's Road Less Travelled states a very strong truth - the statement about if you have one true friend in the world, then you're very, very lucky. I do have at least enough true friends to count on and fill up one hand. So, that logically means that I'm a bit beyond very, very lucky. For that, amongst many, many things, I am truly grateful. "When I meditated on the word Guidance, I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word. I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing. When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. The movement doesn't flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky. When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music. One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another. It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully. The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentativeness from one person and gentle guidance and skill from the other. My eyes drew back to the word "Guidance". When I saw "G: I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i". "God", "u", "i" dance. God, you, and I dance. As I lowered my head I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life. Once again, I became willing to let God lead. My prayer for you today is that God's blessings and mercies be upon you on this day and everyday. May you abide in God as God abides in you. Dance together with God trusting God to lead you through each season of your life. This prayer is powerful and there is nothing attached. If God has done anything for you in your life, please share this message with someone else, for prayer is one of the best gifts we can receive. There is no cost but a lot of rewards. So let's continue to pray for one another. And I Hope You Dance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" And, finally, my usual sign-off, that quite frankly, I've neglected badly lately, "If nobody's told you 'I love you' today, I just did."".
