Lisa A's Story
I graduated from FVHS in 1976 and returned to South Africa (Where I had been a foreign exchange student) for one year. Got home and travelled to Washington State to live with my dad for awhile and work in his candy store. Joined the navy in 1980 (Sept) and travelled the world and ended up in San Diego California in about 1990. Ive been here ever since with my husband Ron (met in the Navy) and our 4 kids who are now grown. Franklin is 29, Jessica is 27, Thomas is 23 and Daniel is 21. We live in Poway just north of San Diego. We have 3 dogs. Ron retired from 30 years Naval service in October 2010. I retired back in October of 2000 and worked part time to take care of my boys. I went to San Diego Miramar College from 2009 to 2014 and earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration. My mom moved from Huntington Beach years ago and was living in Yachats Oregon but she passed away from Alzheimers at the age of 82 in August of 2017. My youngest sister Leslie is living up there too and was taking care of mom full time but now is trying to find her way and decide what to do with the rest of her life. She was working in marketing at the Three Rivers Casino up there and she had her cosmetology license to do hair part time but that lapsed and so I'm not sure if she will go back to school for that again. I hope she will travel and do something fun with her life now that she has no caregiver burdens anymore. My younger sister Linda unfortunately is no longer with us. She took her own life in June of 2006 and we all miss her very much. Hers is a very long...Expand for more
and sad story. I am currently not working. I visited my sister before my mom passed to help take care of her and give Leslie a break so she could have a surgery she needed. That was from Jan - April of 2017. When I got home I took a break for a couple of months and then decided to go back to school. I'd always loved my accounting classes I'd taken for my Business degree and decided to go back and work on an Associates in Accounting. I'm doing really well and only have a few courses left to take before I graduate. I just love being in school. It gives me something to do with my time and helps me keep my brain active. Since my grandma and my mom both had Alzheimer's I'm worried it will happen to me since I'm the first daughter of 3 in my family. So I'm doing my best to keep my brain active.
I'm looking for anyone who graduated in 1976 and may remember me. I just reconnected with one of my best friends from High School, Kelly Hamill and would love to get in touch with Shirley Babashoff again. Am still friends with Alison Harney although she now lives in Washington state. The last person I've seen from high school in the past few years was Paul Laux. You might remember him from the basketball team. Don't know what he is up to now cause he hasn't answered any of my recent emails. If there are any of you out there that want to chat I'd love to hear from you. I guess our 50 year reunion will be coming up in the next few years and I'm hoping there are still enough of us left to have a party!!! Write when you can and everyone take care. Lisa (Kelsh) Noble
