Lisa's Story

Life Where have I been since 1975? I actually completed my High School courses in the first semester of High School and had been accepted to UCLA for the Fall of 76. I did not end up attending UCLA. I actually ended up going to the Bryman School for Medical Assisting for the second half of the school year and moved to Texas to be with my boyfriend that summer. We ended up getting married, but that union only lated for 8 months. I moved back to California and rented an apartment with my younger brother while working as a medical assistant for a Pediatrician in Van Nuys. In 79 I moved to where my parents and younger sister moved in 78: Highland Park, IL. I went to a community college for a year and then found a great job working for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. We traveled the country 4 -6 times a year administering certifying exams for Psychiatrists and Neurologists. I also met Mark. We dated for 2 1/2 years and married in August of 82. king for the past 20 years. I also write, but have only published one poem so far. I have a few children's stories that I am attempting to publish and of course have the great American novel rolling around in my brain. Mark has been a great husband and friend to me for the past 22 1/2 years. He has seen me through two serious bouts of Cancer. Now that we are approaching 50, we have just begun the process of adopting a baby girl from China. We are very excited. Other than my husband, my two brothers and sister remain my closest friends. My older brother lives in a suburb of Chicago and has 11 children! My younger brother lives on the West Coast and my sister lives on the East coast. We make it a point to get together at least four times a year. In September of 2000 I lost my dear Mother to Cancer. My father lives in a Western suburb of Illinois and is married to a lovely woman. With that union I was blessed with another brother whom I adore. At the moment I can honestly say, life is good.
