Lisa's Story

College I attended Iowa State and graduated with a BS in Animal Science in 1991. I was on the Meat Animal Evaluation Team which led to my current job. Workplace I worked for IBP (now Tyson) for 2 years in Waterloo, IA and then moved to Plainview, TX to be a federal USDA meat inspector. I've worked for the USDA's Food Safety Inspection Service for almost 15 years now. I spent 10 years in Bryan, TX as a line inspector and Consumer Safety Inspector. I'm currently stationed in Houston, TX as an imports inspector and will hopefully be moving up the career ladder soon to a position as a Compliance Officer or Consumer Safety officer, also in the Houst...Expand for more
on area. It'll be a lot of work and I'll have to do more traveling but I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I live in the Kemah, TX area with my best guy, Louis (I hate using the term "boyfriend" at our age.) and our 2 dogs and 2 cats. It's right on Galveston Bay and close to my work at the cold storage facilities near the Port of Houston. We love being close to the water and make lots of trips to the beach with the dogs. Lou's busy working at the Kemah Boardwalk and plans to finish his certification as a Welding Inspector soon. We survived Hurricane Ike and we're now looking for "Ike" specials on homes and sailboats so we can enjoy the bay even more!
