Lisa's Story

Life In the past year (2009)-- I have been through many changes. I am in the middle of a divorce after a 18 year marriage and 22 year relationship but I am the happiest I have ever been in my life. I have reconnected with old friends.. Also.. my daughter will be having a little girl in December. WOW.. lots of change in such a short period of time. No one can ever take back lost time but we can absolutely make the best of the time we have left, which is what I intend to do. I enjoy life to the fullest! Currently, I am working as a Business Consultant, in which I work from my home. I travel when necessary but for the most part, I finally get to stay at home and not really ride all over the area monitoring businesses. I have had several jobs in the past and my most recent job was a Business Services Specialist and a General Manager in the hair care industry for 10 years. I have been a Mortgage Loan Officer, a Make-Up artist, sold cars(only for a few months) and worked for my grandparents through High School as a short order cook... Glad that is over... I hated it! I spend a lot of time working with charities and helping others! That's where I get the most gratification! Recent Update for all who care...My father passed away on July 2, 2003! To me this is a big loss! For those of you who knew my dad, you have to know that he was a different kind of man! Not a nurturing father but a protector! I will miss him greatly! Namaste! I played "The Dance" by Garth Brooks at his funeral, had everyone in tears but daddy said in his last few weeks, if he had it to do over again, he would do it all different. He did live a full life and I hope he forgave himself for the mistakes that he made, he was like the rest of us, human! My Motto... " Life, Live it!" Just wanted to add a few other notations to this bio! I have journeyed through many ventures since my daddy died in July of 2003! First let me add that I am now a Certified Reiki Master... for those of you who do not know what that is, it is Spiritually Guided Life Force energy! I started taking that after daddy died to help me get through the trauma of his death from cancer! It's a horrible thing to watch your daddy die! On another note, I won General Manager of the Year in 2004...as I worked as a General Manager with one franchisee for nearly 10 years! Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention, I have three tattos! Yeppers! They are awesome! No I don't do drugs, never cared for the stuff and I don't e...Expand for more
ven drink! I got the tats when I was 30... suspect a mid-life crisis or something but hey, they are beautiful and a part of self expression. I also write poetry and I finished my first book. Who knows what will come of that? It isn't published yet but I have sent it off to one publishing company so far. I am interested in seeing some of you all and what you have been up to! I don't live far from Eden or Danville and I do keep in touch with a few friends, though not many as we have lost touch over the years! Lisa Reynolds is one though that I will always be friends with! She is AWESOME! Anyway..... not much else to add, except that I still am quite the night owl... my mom and sisters still live near Danville and I am just as different as I always was! Take care all! Hope to see you at a reunion! Just to let you know, if I am not invited.... I'm crashing it, on my harley! I mean it too! ABOUT THE REUNION: It was great to see all of you! LOL... So, in another 20 years? Lord Merideth Grogan said it best...next time we'll be talking about grand children... Goodness, I can't believe it's been 20 years~ Love Lisa The teacher who inspired me most was Wayne Tuggle, 7th grade Biology teacher! Coach Johnson, GW High School, Danville, Va. Both of those teachers told me that I could do anything that I wanted to do, as long as I set my mind to it! They were so right! If I could go it all over again, I would really focus on my classwork and not so much on social activities and would have majored in investigational sciences, criminology or other related fields. I love to SOLVE things! I would have also focused more on English because I have become an avid writer. AND I was always doing something stupid at school! The funniest thing I ever did was in French class when I passed around a note that said to look at the footprints on the ceiling... NO ONE looked but the teacher and she kicked me out of her class! It was so funny! Everyone laughed so hard it was amazing! That teacher hated me from that day forward so I ended up having to transfer from that class! I have done other things as well but that one, just tops the cake! That teacher was so dingy! Second funniest thing: I got smashed one night and was wearing Todd Turners brand new leather Harley Davidson hat, I leaned over to throw up and the hat fell off and well, I puked right in his hat! He was forgiving though! Also, I hung upside down from the Berry Hill Bridge on Halloween! OH JOY!
