Lisa's Story

My story?....Don't think its too important to talk about what I did in high school because I think all I did was swim. Life is very different now - although I'm still swimming but certainly not as fast or as much!! And boy, doesn't it take longer to recover! After Northwood I went to University of Hawaii and swam there, too. Then married an Australian bloke and moved to Oz. Long story short here, we parted ways after many years I considered moving back to the states but my options were better here so I stayed. At the time I was in fashion and moved to Melbourne (the heart of Australian fashion) took a roll as a brand manager for a ladies swim and sportswear company. Stayed for a few years but missed Sydney too much. Returned, changed industries - went into telcho sales and lived it up for a couple of years until I fell in love again. Married and had kids this time around. I'm still living in Sydney Australia with my four gorgeous kids, three cats (one adopted us, so I'm not responsible!) and a dog. I'm not married anymore but we remain amicable. It's been almost 27 years here now and its a beautiful city. Too bad it's so far away from the states. I'd love more visitors. I have a fantastic network of friends here - Aussies are really warm and great fun! We do lots of entertaining and I have a group of girlfriends that get together regularly, have a bet, drink champagne, eat, chat and put the proceeds aside for our famous annual weekend away - without kids or the men in our life. Not that we don't love the kids and ...Expand for more
the men in our lives, but we love our time without them, too! Two of my boys are in high school. One loves his computers and bodyboarding and the other is a skate and surf nut. My twin girls are still in elementary school (or primary as we call it down under) and they both swim and play netball. Netball is similar to basketball but not as interesting(if you ask me!). The girls surf a little too. I have promised myself that after all these years in the water I will learn to surf by the end of my 50th birthday - next year. I am currently hosting two students - a girl from China and a boy from Germany. They come out to learn english and live in what we call a homestay situation and pretty much become part of the family. I've had a few students over the last year and to date our fave has been a young man from Japan. The German boy will be with us for a year and gong to a local high school. The Chinese girl is only with us for a couple of months but both are lovely and so far they have been able to cope with the sibling rivalry and noise here! Now I'm an account manager for a textile manufacturer for the commercial sector and deal with designers, architects and builders, etc on a daily basis. It's alot of fun and a good crowd of people at my company. WIll be a lot nicer when the recession goes away, though! I'm also still swimming and doing other sports for fitness and fun. The World Masters Games are on this year in Sydney in October and I am hoping to swim in that. It should be fun. That's my story on a nutshell. Lisa
