Lisa's Story

Hello Everyone - I hope you're all doing well :), Well I for one couldn't wait to see what was outside the Chicagoland area...so my post-HS focus was on relocating myself until I found what felt was "home". I discovered the beautiful setting of the Shawnee National Forest that surrounds SIU-C. I snagged my BA in Psychology there, and still leverage that knowledge today as a Customer Relations Manager with Oracle USA, covering the New York metro area. I get the pleasure of interfacing regularly with CIO's of the Fortune 1000, helping them find innovative ways to adopt our technologies and further their positions in the marketplace. After college I spent three years in St. Louis, moving on to join my then-spouse at The University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School for his MBA in finance. The next logical step for us was...you got it...NYC, where I lasted six months before coming clean with myself that the manic pace of New York City was not where I was meant to be. So I returned to what I loved - the lushness of trees and rolling hills of the Washington DC area, which I had also been covering for Oracle since 1998. In 2000 I started my new life as a single gal living on Capitol Hill for a couple years, and shortly thereafter began my venture into real estate. Unfortunately 2005-7 brought a bit of hardship into my life when my ...Expand for more
mother was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Just when we thought mom was in good hands with my father for the last months of her life - we received one of those late-night calls to learn my daddy had perished in an airplane accident. My sister and I took turns taking leave from work to help out where we could, and mom finally passed peacefully in September of 2007. Fast-forward to today - well actually nearly four years ago - I met the man I can finally say with confidence I'll be sharing the rest of my life with. David is the lead software architect for our US Passport system, and my primary source of support as I've announced by resignation from Oracle after 12 years to begin building a career in real estate. We have two children - Honda 600RR and Yamaha R1. Miraculously, they somehow never require feeding, burping, diaper changing (alright, maybe oil every now and then) or walking. To that end, I caved into the whole social networking thing and set myself up in Facebook. For anyone who's interested in a few more snapshots of my life, you can get all caught up by searching my last (maiden) name. I wish everyone health, happiness and prosperity - especially in these crappy economic times (what - who's in a recession...). If you every find yourselves in the NoVA area, please don't hesitate to drop a line - or drop by! Lisa
