Rick's Story

Life Apologies for my tardiness and thank you for the notes. It has been a tad busy of late Yes...Still enjoying the bach lifestyle... Obviously the rumors of my canal-side, watery demise were slightly exaggerated although the realities are far more severe and not for the faint of heart. My last operation was 4 years ago, re-attaching the other quads tendon (xtreme biking),... (2 years earlier - water fight and roof dont mix) bounced back fine, though. and for the less cautious, the bite is definitely worse than the bark, but I'm not a loud person.... "yeah right", some things never change! The government is trying to keep up with my analytical reports which allows me to call myself productive. Switching depts <again!!>, <again!>, and now <again!!!> (strtgic policy) and the assignments are much better providing significant challenges. There seems to be a significant disconnect in business between the overwhelming number of left brained anaylsts (maps, gps, flares never venturing past their backyard) and the right brained ones (always foraging and being well past being lost). The number of tools, methodologies and dsiciplines not really providing that orientation they need. My eldest is married and busily working away in IT (what a surprise)and his wife still dancing. My 2 youngest are well, with both in HighSchool one in Theater the other in IT - (it must be a gene). They are still being spoiled and both extremely busy; dance, cadets, soccer, boarding, skiing, music and the science projects LOL - getting into electronics now which is really fun!! They are both getting even taller now and the youngest is supposed to be taller than his older brother by the time he's 15 (6') Man!! - well he is now 14 and 6' - They must be putting something in the water. New frontiers like 'quantum physics' and m theory, (Everett et al), really provide a lot of wonder and awe when the pragmatic becomes overwhelming. Been writing Mr. Hawking hoping that our close proximity might endear him to my theoretical leanings - but he is very busy. Getting into electronics with the youngest as a h/w & s/w architectures bridge is where the majority of time is now devoted and still active in technical and consumer advocacy communities and forums although this is taking on a more sociological lean. I wish you all the very best for this new year and for always, and still sincerely thank you all for your participation of the memories in my formative years that persist in providing me the foundation of pervasive smiles and a warm heart. Thanks for your notes and apologize for not recognizing some of you but enjoy the pictures, thank you. I'm back in Ontario <for now>, closer to work and have started 'working out', finally, NOT retired from gaming (lol) there are only so many awards or titles you can get, or visa-versa. Beer is still a much more complex palate than wine and reduced consumption makes more time to get all these things done:) It's all good! Rick(Barry) School First of all, noteably, I have developed a discourse here that I am pretty sure extends beyond the norm and apologize if it makes heavy the burden for those seeking some of the 'specifics'. Through the course of our lives, in this cold, dark universe, we too often pass quickly over the 'meanings' [of things]' overlooking our place in life in the grand sense of things. To unencumber ourselves of the fears of communicating with each other seems paramount to 'relating', (sadly too few do), and insomuch may, with great effort, find something we may build upon, supposing some may actually venture forth. I have learned of the passing of a good many friends, and people that I knew of, but had not found the time to know. I am sorry for our losses. I count myself fortunate for having known them and their friends and extend my deepest sympathies to their families. I myself, through a great many harrowing exploits, am extremely lucky and appreciative of this gift and wish you all well, health, an...Expand for more
d generations of happiness. Highschool The women...Easily, by a country mile, Erika Sharpe was "The Bomba!!!", although Grazina "gendobra" (The Polish Embassador's daughter) was so sweet and as all Polish or Slavic women,[... Well!] Although I find myself more often thinking of Patricia Warnock, (The Irish Embassadors' daughter), Peggy O'Sullivan was such a cutie and still I smile, Betsy Groman, Alex Brown,.. If ever there were good vibrations, California dreamin', sun, sand, surf, sensational, blue-eyed, blond beauties... the epitome of California Dreamin'!! Sandra Heeney, Jessica Lang, Anne McCray,.. [severest admonitions for my spellings] Gads!! highschool! no wonder I never paid attention in class!! Well!! you are all beautiful and admonish myself for such an anemic list! I do still think of all the beautifully entoxicating smiles whether it was just changing classes or out and about :) It wasn't until 10th grade that we actually caught up to the Ohio school system but having gone to the inner city school in Ottawa I picked up all the bad habits, hitting the accelerator on the highway to hell by the time I got to Lisgar. (hint:Don't pick door number 4....) After the play, Lusitania?, Lithuania?, Lucitania? and those intoxicating embraces with Cheryl Kardish, (I run into her about every 15 years or so and she has been doing wonderfully), the "open house" still brags in my mind, well sort of, it is a bit hazy now, (actually that's the way it was recorded) and run into veterans once in a while. Hey Barb!(xxxooo!!!) I would have paid to have seen my parents' faces when they arrived home. Everybody should do at least one of those. I would do it all over again but a way different for sure, taking just a little bit more responsibility for myself, that's a given, and taking care in cultivating more meaningful dialogues and more friends. Of course, I would have exercised a great deal more time with my studies. The teachers They were hilarious, God bless'em. High School was a blast even though it can be such a tough time when you're growing up and leave indelible marks on so many. Grant us patience and strength in helping our own children in their growth. Again I wishing you all, all of the successes, health, happiness and wealth that life can bestow. Barry College College and University, working fulltime, and with a growing family, made sleep deprived memory loss a blessing. I am sure that is where I acquired the taste for cold pizza and warm beer. Although I am sure I was more into the good wines and lots of cooking back then. My first Jag (a '67 420 with 9:1(HC) and racing rear) almost cost me a semester touring the Gatineaus but found some beautiful picnic spots. It was busy and I lost contact with most everyone since then but hope you are all doing great. Workplace Working fulltime since 12, except for the expiditionary years, I've spent enough time in both the private and public sectors that provide interesting lenses. Now working with yet another gov't dept. I am enjoying the work more and more and now into systems development and IT Investigations. It's never the content it's always the delivery. A few of my associates are contracting on the side and doing very well and still encouraging me to to do likewise but I value my free time too much. Well with yet another election just passed, I now work with a different group of the same people and a different department (wow this update is ironic). Go ahead you figure it out. The work is challenging the way it should be and the locations are no longer optimum, hating the commute. The road ahead looks challenging from the macroscopic point of view but trust we will all find ourselves further ahead on all counts as we embark. Let us take solace in sharing these times together and may we have great times whenever we meet. May your god be with you and comfort you always. The best of great cheers for you all, thank you. Nice to see such great shots of you - thank you.
