Lita's Story
A few months after graduation I started working for Alameda County, first in the Welfare Dept. in downtown Oakland, then at Fairmont Hospital in San Leandro. After 8 years (1979) I signed with a temp agency and worked for a few different companies before landing a permanent job in Hayward which lasted 13 years. and Coliseum. Upon my layoff in 2009 I spent 2 years taking care of my mother, returning to work in 2011. My Mom passed away in 2013 and I continued to work until Nov. 2020 at which time the company had to file chapter 7 bankruptcy due to COVID-19. I am now officially "retired" which is a good thing. I've never married and I've lived in the same house my entire life.
