Liz's Story
Life has been very good to me. Just after graduation I moved to Manhattan, KS and worked at Ft. Riley. When Dad returned from his first tour in Vietnam, he was stationed at Redstone Rsenal, Huntsville, AL. I moved there in 1968 and worked while attending Cosmotology school. In 1970 I moved to Joppa and lived with my sister Bobbie and Letoy Antetomasso. I met my soon to be husband at Tuck's pizza in Havre de Grace in June 1970. We moved to his home state of Rhode Island and were married that September. We have five children and were divorced in 1994, although we stayed close until his death in 2009. We have four grandchildren. I worked until 1973 when our oldest daughter was born. That year my husband graduated from law school and was elected to the RI House of Representatives. I was fortunate to be able to stay at home to care for the kids and house. In 2002 shortly before our youngest was born, my husband was appointed to the RI Worker Compensation Court were he served until his retirement in 2007. In 1988 I had gone to work as the Parks and Recreation Director in N. Smithfield, RI where we lived. In 1991 I joined the National Park Service. I moved to Gunnison, CO in 2008, then IN. In 2010. r the NPS and have been fortunate to be able to visit many of our national parks in the course of my work and for pleasure. Having just retired, I am moving to CO in July. My sister Bobbie lives with me, and our sister Jeanne already lives in CO, so the three of us will finally be in the same location since high school!
I still love to travel and visit the kids and grandkids in New england several times a year. Now that I am retired, I will spend the majority of my time working on my projects. I am a fiber artist, creating a wide variety of items from many different materials. I spin raw fiber into yarn, weave, crochet and knit. I am a quilter as well and tend to give most of my quilts away. Two of my current quilt projects are completing a replica of the Jane Stickle (Dear Jane) quilt, and creating a crazy quilt of my life story.
I am also writing a historical novel based on a ship captain and mill owner in New England in the late 18th and 19th centuries.
My brother Joe lives just north of Chicago so we have been able to visit frequently over the past six years. My brother Ed passed in 1995 and I miss him dearly. Some of you may remember Ed who played Sax in the band and also played in a band with Bill and Wes.
