Logan's Story
I grew up a little wild. I was suspended from Phx Tech two times. Went to Tolleson HS, Phoenix Union. I was elected student body president my senior year to the dismay of the faculty but had to resign for a couple of reasons. My senior year I took truck driver training. Ray Lemley was my instructor. After high school I joined the navy and served on the USS Winston AKA 94. When I got discharged in 1956 I returned to Phoenix, married with one son and a daughter on the way. No job and my being a boatswain mate in the navy no skill for a job, I called the school to talk to Mr. Lemley. the school said he was no longer with the school and gave me his home ...Expand for more
phone number. When I called his house his wife told me he was working at the Teamsters Union. I called Mr. Lemley and he was a dispatcher for the hiring hall. He had me get a chauffer license and put me to work the next day. He was my life saver. I ended up being an over the road driver and was able to retire at 57 years old with a teamsters union pension. I will never forget him. I am now 79 years old and widowed. I lost my wife of 58 years last July. I don't do a lot of anything now. I have 2 sons and 3 daughter living. Lost two sons. 15 grand kids, 11 great grand kids, and one great great grand son. That is what happens when you marry a Hispanic. lol
