Lois's Story
Hello there: Wondering what I've been up to these past 35 years? I can't even believe I'm saying that because there is no way I can be that old. So after I graduated from high school I moved to Reno and became a casino dealer (ugh!). It's not as glamourous as it sounds, but the money was good and I did have some fun. After about 10 years of that I went back to school and continued to work full time. I got a degree in fashion merchandising. If you knew me in high school, you will appreciate that. But, my career in the fashion world was very short lived. I could not adjust to making $6/hour and selling $500 sweaters. So I went back to college and took classes in environmental studies. I finally found my passion and am very lucky. I have been working in the environmental...Expand for more
field for `14 years and now live in the East Bay. I work for a local government agency that manages the garbage and recycling programs for 5 cities. I love my work so much I decided to go back to school AGAIN and get my masters degree in Public Administration. I am now half way done.
My personal life? I wound up finally finding my true love through a mutual friend. He is a wonderful, kind hearted, honest and respectful person that I admire greatly. We've been married for four years and I couldn't be happier.
So, for me, all has turned out well. I am happy, healthy and looking forward to perhaps living in Sacramento again when I get my masters. I want to be a legislative analyst dealing with solid waste issues. So hey, GO GREEN!
Best Regards,
Lois Courchaine (Cole)
