Lois's Story
2009
Planning a trip to SC to visit my son Vince and family in the Fall. Been involved in a complete remodeling of our church since Feb '09. Hardly have had time to clean my own house--God comes first :)
2008
Took a 3 week trip late May thru July 7, 2008 to Winchester and SW VA, WV and MD. This trip was mostly a genealogy trip to find buriel sites and farms of my mother's maternal family.
When we returned, I started to put a DVD together for my family for Christmas--am still working on it. Mom had seven children. I have pictures--hundreds--of all of us from about 2 years old-current. My oldest sister was 87 in January '09, the next oldest died at 50 years old, the next is a sister 82, a brother 79, and two younger brothers 62 and 58. I have downloaded popuplar music of the eras we grew up in and some video footage to add.
We had one family reunion on my husband's side in Winchester and returned to that area for a wedding and reception.
On July 4th, I hosted a Hetrick family reunion/open house for my Dad's side in Bittinger, MD. I rented the Bittinger Fire House/Community Center there just in case of rain . . . and it did! Just poured, but it didn't keep the appproximate 100 family members and friends from joining us.
Several of my OH family drove to MD to meet up with us, my oldest son, Ron came from Nevada City, CA and my youngest son, Vince, and three of his children, my granddaughters ages 12, 15 & 17 drove up from SC. Was the first time I'd seen them in person since 1996--too long. I will post pictures soon.
We arrived home exhausted but was lucky to have missed the terrible fires in California that took place while we were gone. The air quality was just awful for weeks.
1982-2008
I love California and hope to spend a lot of time traveling with my husband of almost 27 years (June 2009), Preston "Skip" aka "Stew" Stewart. Preston graduated from Frederick High School in 1957. He joined the Air Force after graduation and retired out in 1975. We met after he came to work at SMUD in 1980.

ove up from SC and brought his three daughters, the grandchildren I hadn't seen for over 10 years--they were 2, 4 and 6 when I had seen them last on a visit to Florida in 1996. My oldest grandchild, Vince, Jr., returned to Florida in 2007. Made me a great grandma to a beautiful baby girl Autumn Rose in November 2007.
Future plans
Alaskan cruise. Plan to go on another--round trip from San Francisco to Victoria, BC, and Alaska possibly 2010. First cruise was in 2001
Plan to take a trip to Hawaii again soon--only spent 4 days/3 islands in 1988. Not near enough time--just enough to tease us into another trip.
Life after graduation
I went to work for General Tire at their headquarters office near East High. Six years and two children later I relocated to Southern California with my family.
1969-1974 Worked for Mattel Toy Company. Best job of all.
1974-1989 After relocating to the Sacramento (Rocklin)area, I worked for the local electric company (SMUD).
1989-2003 Worked my homebased secretarial desktop publishing business full time.
2001
Attended my first East High reunion (40th).
2004 Took an AAA tour of the Grand Canyon May '05. Flew to Phoenix, rented a car and drove to Williams, AZ. From there took the train to the Grand Canyon and bus tour around the Southern Rim of the Canyon. Stayed at the Grand Canyon Railroad Hotel in Williams--was fabulous and then overnight at the Canyon (Meswik Lodge). Took the free shuttles at the Canyon and set out on foot to visit some of the local sites.
Drove route 89 from Williams through Sedona. Beautiful red rock formations. Saw the Chapel in the Rock--one of the main sites. From there to Chandler to stay with Hetrick cousins for a couple of days. Visited Tortilla Flat, an old stagecoach stop, walls wallpapered with $1 bills and other funny stuff. The bar stools were saddles. Had lunch there and then afterwards enjoyed a prickly pear ice cream ;o) Also took a cruise on Saguaro/Canyon Lake. Arizona was a surprise to me. Phoenix to Williams was a 7,000+ climb--from desert and palm trees to pine trees and sage. Supposed to be the place for asthma sufferers. The state is growing fast in population and senior gated communities. Houses running $300,000 and up.
