Lois's Story
Life
After high school, I got my degree in music education, married, joined the Army Band, had kids, lived in Massachusetts, Indiana, Germany, Georgia and Virginia, and now teach music in a Christian School here in Virginia. An interesting choice of "souvenirs" to collect at each military assignment has been CHILDREN!!! Samantha was born in Indiana, Hannah in Germany, Amanda in Georgia and David in Virginia. My husband can retire in 3 years, and hopefully no more moves until then. If we should move again, I think I'll opt for picking up a souvenir T-shirt like everyone else does!!! Happily married to Ross Whitlock with four kids: Samantha, age 15, Hannah, age 10, Amanda age 8 and David, age 5.
We have a musical group along with another family, called "Folk Harvest", and we enjoy playing around our community.
Workplace

Upon college graduation, first worked in the Administrative Of...Expand for more
fice of Tanglewood Music Festival (located at Boston University). I knew from the start this was temporary, so after that worked in Boston University Development Office. Since I had been a December College Grad, those two jobs finished out that school year and following summer, and then I took a job teaching general music at Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill, MA. Spent two years there, which overlapped with a 3 year position at Shady Hill School in Cambridge, MA, teaching flute.
Along with my music teaching, I did a little bit of playing in the Boston area, and also worked secretarial jobs through a temp agency.
Finally in 1988, my husband and I joined the Army Band, which took up the next 5 1/2 years of my life. I got out of the Army to be a stay-at-home mom, and during that time, taught flute lessons out of my home.
Continued teaching privately until 2001 when I started teaching part-time at Bethel Christian School in Hampton, VA. I still teach private flute lessons along with this position.
