Lorelei's Story
Life
It has been 4 years since I relocated to Cerro Gordo, Il. I will get to retire in 16 more years! If the Gov. has his ways maybe sooner.
My daughter, Britt, is finishing up her freshman year of high school. I still laugh thinking that most of my friends kids are getting married. Britt is doing everything I wished I could have done. She sings, dances, plays an alto clarinet and the piano,and is involved in theater. Some how she fits in sports and studying. Can you understand why I am looking at retiring? Both my husband and I can't wait until she can drive. We have to make it through one more year.( yes, I am counting!)
I hope to find some time to go back to school. In the mean time I am trying to get more involved in the school and politics.
Update as of June 30 2009:
One more year and my daughter will be following her music dreams. Life has been quiet since she started driving. I can't believe how fast the last three year went. I am just glad not to be in high school. Still haven't gone ...Expand for more
back for more schooling but I have been active writing and getting involved with politics. This State needs a lot of help. Maybe I should say this Nation needs help.
Update as of April 30 2011:
My daughter is almost done with her first year of college at Northern Illinois University. Where the time has gone is beyond me. I started out 2011 with health issues that I am dealing with. My daughter has been a great support this semester. I am not sure how she does it as she spends at least 10 hours a day playing her instruments. I had a few chances to visit NIU in the fall semester and it sure has changed since I attended school there. All the open fields around campus are gone. What I would not give to go back to school. They have improved in so many areas and provide a lot more support to their students these days. Maybe once I get to retire I can advance my education. Although, by the time my daughter gets her PHD in music I will not want to. I will want to travel and see where she is working.
