Lorena's Story
First, let me say that it still strikes me as bizzare that we are in our thirties. I remember walking through the halls at Irvin discussing a show called "thirtysomething" and specifically commenting that it should be called "OLD Something." And now...here we are 17 years later.
In those 17 years I managed to graduate with a BA in Philosophy (Dec 1997). I can't tell you enough what a wise move that was...NOT! There aren't too many job posting stating "thinkers wanted." So, when you find yourself on the other end of that podium, you realize you have 3 choices: 1)go work at a bookstore, 2)get your PhD in Philosophy and teach, or 3) go to law school. I chose the latter and in May 2001 graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law (Ohio???? Where the H*** is that and why am I still here?)
The general theme in my life since HS can be summed up with the following phrase...Expand for more
"it seemed like a good idea at the time." This carefully planned out approach to life (read with sarcasm) is how I ended up married...in Ohio...pregnant in my third year of law school.
Law firm hours + new baby = not a good idea. I chose corporate life as a result and can honestly say I have no regrets. I've been with the same company since 2001 and have enjoyed many perks, including travel to New Zealand, Australia, and Germany. And in case you're wondering, go to New Zealand-hands down the best time of my life!
My son is now 7 and is unequivocally a mini-me. He couldn't be or look more like me if I'd had him cloned in a lab, or so I'm told.
I still play tennis...a lot of tennis. In fact, if I'm not working or playing with my son, I'm probably playing tennis.
Well, enough about me. I don't sign on very often, but it's been fun seeing some familiar faces and names.
