Lori's Story
Lori is from Corpus Christi, Texas. Her schools include W.B. Ray High School. She later attended Southwest Texas State University, San Marcos, TX. She works(ed) at Self Employed. After a stay at South West Texas (gymnastics scholarship) I began my career as a ballroom dancer / instructor . I found the perfect career! It was something I had never dreamed that I could of making a living doing. I have spent the past 30 plus years in the Ballroom Dance indrustry. During this time , I had a professional dance partner. We traveled quite a bit competing professionally, also I would dance in pro /amerure with my students. Eventually (15 years or so ) I decided to settle down a bit. I began to manage Fred Astaire Studios. I worked for the home office, I would travel to cities that were about to open a new franchise and train their staff. This meant I took them from not knowing how to dance, to teaching and selling dance lessons. The process took about 6-9 weeks.of strenuous work! I eventually married a man in the dance business and had 2 children. We danced together with our kids ,competitions, shows, and exhibitions. They eventually grew tired of all of it, especially the long rehearsals ...Expand for more
not to mechlin dancing with their parents! Time goes by and I continue to teach, by this point I'm self employed, I needed the flexibility to raise my kids. Eventually I divorce the dancer dad, (J.R.) and marry my husband Dale. Both children are educated (daughter graduates w/ masters from Texas Tech in May 2014) and on their own. My son Josh, is in the oil and gas business. Neither of them are married, Josh is 26, and Desire' is 24. I do not see them settling down any time soon. So no grandchildren in the forecast. Dale and I are empty nesters. We do a lot of traveling, recently, we took a 2 week vacation to Hawaii. It was a great trip, one of the weeks we cruised all the Hawaiian Islands. I would recommend that trip to anyone! Jan. of 2014 I began to focus on my career again, Let's Dance Sugar Land is the name of by bus. So far, things are going well , it is all by the the Grace of God! During the past I have had struggles, as we all do. I fought a battle w/ alchol and drug abuse, it was a though bout . I finally found the solution !!! Today, and the last 5 years I live free. I spend much of my free time helping others find their way out of the 'ism's. I am a friend of Bill.
