Lori's Story

Lori is from Las Vegas, Nevada. She is Married To Chef Jeff. She attended Western High School. She later attended University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Jeff and I have one son, Jack who is everything I was not!!! Outgoing, outspoken, funny, and the love of my life! We live in a small town in Michigan, just north of South Bend, IN. Miss my friends, the mountains, but not the heat! The snow is amazing and I often call my life like living in a snow globe. Also resided in Mississippi, Indiana, and in a suburb north of Detroit. My husband seems to enjoy the small cities, or just feels better having us in one while he is at work which is nearly 24-7..LOL!! I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia after losing Dad in '99, so I am pretty much a home body. I love home improvement, so it works out very well!!! My son and girlfriend are great company and soon on their way to MSU....Michigan State. I am enormously proud of him!!! Once the two of them take off for Lansing, I will most likely become the cat lady except it would have to be dogs. Not that I don't like cats, but allergies stop that idea. I finally found my voice once we moved back to Michigan. I know this is not politically correct, but I know that I wasn't the only one who was thrilled to be at school. It was safe, something I never knew at home. I started therapy years ago. The flashbacks were awful, but finally filling in the empty times I could not remember started to paint a picture for me. It was sickening to say the least. I know in my heart that I was not the only one suffering abuse at home. Once I was in therapy, I only wanted to go back into my earlier years and apologize to so many people about my behavior. Here is my for...Expand for more
um, yet I know very few if any will read this. I do apologize if I was ever rude, or unkind to anyone that I ever knew. Please know that I worked on auto pilot and was never allowed to think for myself. I just never did enough, never good enough, and never had a childhood. Thank you Jim, for never betraying my trust and Ed, you are the best!! I know you had no idea. I am so sorry. To everyone that suffered at home, please know that it is never right. Never. At the time we were growing up, the resources that are available now were not in place for us. We never deserved the pain, yet we had no other way out. Instead we were threatened not to say a word to any one else. Just disgusting. We were robbed of our childhoods and we can never get that back. We can forgive, but never forget the pain inflicted on us. I made a promise that I would raise my son the way I wished I was, and he is an amazing man. I am proud that I broke that cycle of abuse, yet he knows he can contact her anytime. He has chosen not to as of this date. I have worked so hard at this, so please forgive my being overly proud?? Thank you so much for hearing me out, and I pray that my message some how gets out.  It would mean the world to me to know that my apology was read and heard by the people that I hurt.    Hope everyone is doing well, happy, and healthy. One of Lori's favorite quotes is: " Open your heart and soul to only the invited"......and "The truth shall set you free"......". More about Lori:"Birthday: June 6 and June 7 ( My birthday was celebrated on June 6 until I was 32. I then discovered that I was indeed born on June 7. So, I have 2 birthdays now instead of one!!!)
