Lorie's Story

Life I am 46 years old;married to the same wonderful man for 23 years. I have 3 children:Nicole age 22, Holly age 20 and Gregory age 12. We adopted Gregory when he was 3...he has been a great blessing to our family. My life revolves around my family and church. I rescued Gregory from the public schools 4 yrs ago and began home schooling him; he has special needs that the public school is incapable of providing. Nicole graduated from college in December 2006; Holly is in college at this time;and I am not taking the empty nest syndrome well at all. I am a Nurse.I was crazy and went to college late in life, when my kids were very small-so I guess you could say I love a challenge) I work at an OB clinic in Tyler ,Tx. I love it. I also teach Childbirth classes, newborn care and breastfeeding. My passion(besides my kids) is working with the youth and college and career classes at church(They keep me young). I love christian music, romantic comedys and entertaining people at my house. My husband went through a mid life thing and bought a motorcycle, which gives him a break from his job in the oilfield. My mom recently past away and my dad moved back to Northwood. I miss them both soooo much. I actually graduated from New Caney, Texas, where my parents moved when I was in 8th grade(the most traumatic thing that ever happened to me). I never really got to keep in tou...Expand for more
ch with my friends in Iowa and I found it hard to make new friends in my new high school so I was pretty much a loner until I graduated and got married. I have totally come out of my shell and am strongly opinionated on many things in life-mostly things that would affect my family- politics and religion/ morals and ethics and such. I am a conservative Christian but always interested in listening to what anyone else has to say. We can always agree to disagree. I spend my free time(Ha!) playing board games and cards, watching movies and fellowshipping with friends(with lots of food that I love to cook). I like to write poetry. I am sentimental. I would love to hear from anyone who graduated from Norhwood in the year 1980- when I would have graduated had I not been kidnapped and shipped to Texas. Just Kidding, I have lfallen in love with Texas and would not want to live anywhere else. I did play percussion in the junior high band at Northwood and did nothing else with that after leaving Iowa until about 3 years ago when we bought an old drum set and now I play sometimes at our church (not very professional-but God doesn't care). To any who by some chance read this, I hope your life has been as happy and fulfilling as mine has been. I wish you and your family many blessings and encourage you to go be a blessing to others...because in the end that is what counts.
