Lorin's Story

Albany, 1954-56; Estacada, 1956-56; Sweet Home, 1957-58, were the three high schools I attended. Upon graduation from Sweet Home H.S., I joined the Air Force for the standard four-year enlistment. After basic training at Lackland A.F.B. In Texas, I went to the language school at Monterey, CA for the nine-month Russian Language program. From there I spent a one-year tour Japan eavesdropping on minions of the Evil Empire, then as an instructor for those who would go on to do what I did in various sites around the world. My enlistment ended in June 1962 when I returned to the Willamette Valley to attend Oregon State University. Graduating with an electrical engineering degree led to a career in computers. My wife, daughter and I moved on to Minneapolis, Mn where I spent the next 16 years developing computer hardware and software. Lured to California...Expand for more
my second wife and I raised twin daughters while I spent several years in aerospace. Retiring from engineering I moved on to earn a teaching credential to teach math at the secondary level. After five years at a middle school where I not only taught math, but science as well, I resigned to retire again. Retirement plans included relocation to Tucson, AZ where I now live alone with my cats. I lead an active life which includes volunteering, and social activities. Stumbling into a part-time paid job where I tutor kids in grades 5 though 12 and even some college kids in my passions: math and physics. Friends are a large part of what makes my life content. So in my golden years there have been some exciting adventures; I may be alone but never lonely. If you plan to stop to Tucson aon your travels, look me up. I have plenty of room for old friends.
