Louie's Story
Time has flown bye for me, currently I am the State Vice President for CCPOA, representing members working in CDCR, DJJ or Paroles departments, in short words state prisons\.
I am one of the five Executive Council members that operate the organization/union for correctional officers. I have been re-elected six times in the last 13 years. Before that I worked the line at Preston, Ione, CA. I work with legislators, reviewing and and approving court cases for officers accused of violations. I have been in every state prison in california. I have seen death row in Huntsville and San Quentin, and visited prisons in Dublin, Ireland AND London. I have spoken with and seen the nut Charlie Manson, saw Sirhan Sirhan, juan corona, Hillside strangler, night stalker, and many inmates who have done horrible crimes, in my 23 years. I have had extensive training in contract negotiations at Harvard, Karass, etc. We have over 33,000 members working inside the state prisons. Its a real thrill seeker. I never thought I would work in a prison when I was growing up. Its not ...Expand for more
the size of a person thats works in a prison, its the common sense that keeps you alive. All prisons smell the same, a inmate smell. I have two grown kids, a girl + boy and they gave me 5 grandsons and one granddaughter. They are my pride + joy in my life. My daughter followed me in this line of work and is also a Peace Officer -Case Manager at Chaderjian-DJJ, Stockton.
I haven't seen anyone from high school and dont remember that many names. I visited many ports and countries, when i was assigned to the aircraft carrier CVA-19, in the Navy. Great times in everything I have done. I graduated and never looked back to the old neighborhood. Hard work pays off and in the end you enjoy the rewards. Did you know when I bought my high school ring in 1967, I had them put the color green and not red. I was a Packer fan than and continue to be one today. My dream came true in 1996 when i went to Lambeau field in Green Bay. I guess you can say I have lived the American dream. So where all the girls who went to school. What ya look like now? HA, stay healthy.
