Louis's Story

Life -- We just had our 50th year class reunion. Great to see everyone. It was comforting to see that we ALL look OLD. I didn't think I looked that old UNTIL they passed out our HS Class pictures!! OMG I graduated from Alfred University with a degree in Math. I left Geneva in 82 when I got married. Took my MBA at American University then Moved to Texas, the last free state in the union. God Bless Texas and America !! I have been living in Dallas Tx for 34 years. I still race cars. I have been married for 36+ years. 1 son, 34 yrs old, Louis jr who went to Purdue and runs his own successful company and 1 daughter, Christin31 who attended UT Austin then SMU Law school. She is currently a Lawyer at a Dallas law firm. My sister is Lorraine Gigliotti (Caci) who lives in Auburn NY. I once had a brother but he forgot what life is all about. My company is LG Motorsports one of America's leading Corvette tuners and high performance Corvette parts suppliers. I am finalizing details and approvals to build a race track. Actually a Motorsports country Club called LG Motorsports Park. with a web site to match the name. my email (Lougig2882 at gmail dot com) I am not sure what I am going to do when I grow up, but I will figure it out. Don't worry about anything, Life Causes Death, so get over it! None of us are going to get off this planet alive :). Here is one for you ..."For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his soul? ". OR... If wealth is lost nothing is lost. If health is lost something is lost If character/reputation is lost everything is lost. -- Integrity is doing the right thing when no one is watching! OK, here comes the Political discourse: Thinking back on living 30 years in Geneva I got to see long ago what a thriving city in the NE was like. We had factories, a lake, a great downtown and plenty of good honest people. Now when I come back, every thing is gone. Geneva even has shootings now. Who would have thought??? Geneva has no real industry and thus no real jobs . The city and NYS is an experiment in Socialism. All the money that comes into Geneva comes from the government in one way or another. If you own a business you get paid with one of many ways that the govt passes out money. >>But to pass it out, they must first steal it fro...Expand for more
m another person. And who would have thought that the Geneva High Janitor would become Mayor and still NOT clean things up? Grocery stores take food stamps. Or get paid with SS checks. An insurance company sells products the same way but they also insure the companies that bring in the Govt money. Hospitals, Medicare, Medicade, College with Govt money etc. Almost every penny in Geneva is from Govt. So it still comes back to passing around GOvernment money that was "Taken" from a productive citizen. I remember watching David Suskind years ago asking Mario Cuomo "what was going to happen to the companies that were being so highly taxed?" Cuomo said,"what are they going to do, Leave? They have millions invested in their factories." --- Well Mario they left and the factories are empty. Hud housing has taken over, my old neighborhood is a mess, the Geneva schools don't teach anything except "Diversity" and "self esteem" and America hating -- and now they teach kids to blame the every present hot summers (and even cold winters) on Global warming/cooling/changing and the SUV or useing too much toilet paper! WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE? I didn't even like being chased off the Library steps by the police, so why would I like being robbed by govmt to pay for some dead beat who refuses to work. I always help people who need help. But I don't want to be told that I HAVE TO help someone by decree of the Govt or by force of arms. (Thanks to Walter Williams for this line of thinking--Look him up) So there you have it. 68 years of working hard and doing alot of thinking about the logic of the Free Market vs Socialism and the Free Market wins every time. I have a 1930 cadillac and it made me realize that there was NO income tax in 1913. And in 1954 my dad paid 3% tax. So where did the money go that the govt has stolen from hard working people? They passed it out to chosen welfare class and slowly but surely they are melting everyone down to the same level. Is this what they meant when they called America the "Melting pot". Oh well, I don't think there will be much of a 70th class reunion so only our kids and grand kids will have to deal with turning off the flame under the Melting pot. Life is tough, then we die. Hopefully, later rather than sooner. Hang in there. I look forward to hearing from any of you. Lou Gigliotti GHS-67
