Louise's Story

I remember having friends from every group in school, and never enough time to have fun. After high school I married Chris Clark, moved around (Texas, CA, Seattle, San Diego), went to school, raised a son and a foster daughter, kept on going to school, worked a lot, had some fun, kicked up my heels a little. I have traveled to 38 of the 50 states (and counting), and been to Europe several times, sometimes with friends, sometimes with a ladies' group. I was divorced in 2001 and moved to TN, where in 2005 I was remarried to a wonderful big old TN bubba. That's a wedding photo on my profile, and the young man with us is my son Bryan, of whom I am exceptionally proud. Professionally I have been a radiation therapist, helping people fight cancer. I started doing this in 1991. I am also a medical coder which I used as the auditor for our department's charts. I became the Radiation Oncology Specialist in Revenue Integrity for the Tri-Star Division of HCA, then worked for Coding Strategies, Inc. for a year, and now I am a coding manager at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center financial office, with radiation oncology and cardiology coders working with me. I have an awesome boss and hopefully will stay with Vanderbilt until it's time to retire. I am still looking for a Masters program to help me decide what I want to be if and when I ever grow up! I still read too much, love to laugh and have friends of all kinds, shapes, sizes, races, and ages. I try to fight prejudice and ignorance wherever I find it and help people see ways in which the...Expand for more
y can support and encourage one another to be the best they can be. Life in TN is definitely not what I ever expected, but it is always an adventure. And the cost of living sure beats California! My older brother Bob (a Bella Vista grad), younger sister Cathy and I are still very close. We just spent several days together in Maine where my brother is a geology professor, and enjoyed sharing laughs and coffee and stories of earlier times with each other and Bob's wife and my husband. Cathy lives in Chicago, has been an interior designer but now works as the seamstress in Chicago's Sheraton Hotel, one of the grandest of their properties, and has a staff that helps her stay on top of the uniform repairs and fittings, keeping the fabric furnishings of the hotel (such as duvet covers, etc.) in top-notch condition, and generally making everything look and feel well-cared for. She even bakes goodies for the staff that drops in to enjoy while they are waiting to pick up their newly fitted uniforms or their dry cleaning. I found my husband on match.com, several of my best friends in TN are people I met through Craigslist, and I work all day in a number of computer programs that let me see into people's medical records. So although I am not a digital native, I do pretty well for an immigrant! I limit my social media time, though; it is much more important to me to connect face to face in real time than it is to send hashtags back and forth to people. That's about it for now, drop by and say hello if you are ever near Nashville, Tennessee...

Our family used to vacation in Oregon, I loved it! Mountains, rivers, lakes, moderate climate, forests, nice people but not too many of them. No wonder many pioneers headed there!
