Louise's Story
hmmmmmm let's see- long (thirty plus years) story short-
I married my high school BF in '82 and we started our family in Thunder Bay. When we were expecting our third daughter Ken accepted a transfer to a training college in Quebec (near Montreal) so we moved to a small french town on the border of Ontario/Quebec. My french was very rusty by then but living there forced me to practice.
We stayed there for three years and when we were expecting our fourth child (yea a boy this time) Ken accepted a transfer to Ottawa. We moved into a rural village about 40km from the city. It's a close knit town and great place to raise a family.
I stayed home with the children for a few years then re-entered the work force (year is 1998- and I could hardly turn on a computer). I overcame that hurdle and spent a few y...Expand for more
ears working for the Bank of Canada. In 2004 I decided to make the leap to the federal government. I challenged myself by competing for jobs over the years and have had the pleasure of working for the Canada Revenue Agency (twice), Statistics Canada and most recently, the Canada Border Services Agency (where I'll stay) since Ken and I are looking at a fast-approaching retirement.
Three of the children are finished post secondary and we have one more to go...then maybe we'll be empty nesters- but I think we'll find that dull. However, maybe by that time, we'll be grandparents.
Since all my in-laws are in TB we do visit from time to time, but less often as the kids grow up. I remember my years in Thunder Bay and Kakabeka Falls and FWCI fondly and was sad to learn that the school closed down some years ago
