Lowayne's Story
After graduating from Center H.S. in Kansas City, MO, Lowayne Shieh and her family moved to Walnut Creek, CA. Lowayne attended UCLA for her freshman year( 1971-72). She transferred to UC Berkeley and graduated in 1975 with a BA degree in Art Psychotherapy. For 5 years, Lowayne worked for employers: UC Berkeley's Career & Planning Center as Job Fair Coordinator and Macy's CA as Assistant Buyer & Department Store Sales Manager. After working for 5 years, Lowayne returned to Graduate Business School at California State University, East Bay and in 1983 received an MBA degree in Marketing Management and International Business. In 1982, she also received a scholarship to attend the Institute of International Studies & Training (IIST) in Fujinamiya, Japan, where she received a certificate for completing graduate studies in International Business and Marketing Management.
From 1983-1991, Lowayne worked as a Marketing & Sales Manager for the local telephone company (Pacific Bell). For a 5-1/2 year stint (1991-1996), Lowayne worked as a Gubernatorial Appointee and was appointed Chief of the Division of Consumer Services in the CA Department of Consumer Affairs, which is the state agency responsible for Professional Licensing and Consumer Protection. r the Ethnic Markets Group and National Corporate Accounts Team. With over 20 years of service, Lowayne retired from AT&T in 2009.
Since then, Lowayne has been involved in many volunteer opportunities and nonprofit organizations. For 5 years, Lowayne has worked as a Volunteer Chaplain at the Adventist Health Glendale (a local medical center). As well, she was involved in the community as a Spiritual Care volunteer in the American Red Cross. For more than 5 years through her church (La Canada Presbyterian Church), Lowayne was a volunteer cook to feed the homeless population in Downtown Los Angeles. She remains actively involved in the Asian Community and support nonprofits through her company & website: PriceLESSolutions.com — As a “Philanthropic Advisor & Marketing Consultant", Lowayne provides free marketing and management advice and consultation to minority-owned and women-owned businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Lowayne’s passions are her two rescue dogs — Fred & Ginger and movie watching and visiting local museums, gardens, and parks. For personal development and spiritual growth and as a believer of Lifelong Learning, Lowayne attends training classes and takes online courses on Technology & Visual Arts and Spiritual Care & Chaplain work. With many interests and hobbies, she currently loves gardening, cooking, traveling the World & USA, and binging movies and TV series on streaming platforms.
