Luanne's Story
Life
Hi. Wow, how time flies! It's hard to believe it's been so many years since we were walking the halls of Lumberton High. Now we have begun a new chapter in our 40's (gasp!!) For those I haven't seen since high school, I'll catch you up really quickly. I graduated from UNC-W in 1988 (Go Seahawks!) with a BS degree in Business Management. Just before I graduated, I met a wonderful guy, who just so happened to be a Marine. We married in 1990, and after a few years of living in the DC area, we moved back to NC - first living in High Point, then in Wilmington, and now we live in Cary, with our three cats. ids of our own, I'm the stepmom to his 3 wonderful children, who are now grown and have children of their own. So, as funny as it may sound, I have grandchildren - and they call me "LuLu". Isn't that a hoot!!
One accomplishment that I'm very proud of was the completion of the 2009 Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC in October with my husband and step-daughter. I never dreamed I'd do something like that at age 43, but what an exhilarating feeling to cross that finish line after 26.2 miles! I say my first marathon because I've been bitten by the "marathon bug" and definitely want to improve my finish time.
