Lucero Warnier's Story
I arrived in Billings from Cali, Colombia, in the summer of 1963. I had the privilege of being awarded a scholarship to study my senior year in the United States through American Field Service, a foreign exchange student placement organization. During my school year at Billings West High School, I had the distinct pleasure of making endearing friendships. I lived in the lovely home of Shirley, of blessed memory, and Cal Williamson, who opened their home and hearts with much warmth, generosity and hospitality. I can never thank them enough for their affection and care; and same goes for their daughters Karen and Peggy.
After graduating from BWHS, I returned to Cali and continued my education. I attended business school and worked at Corn Products International in Cali and Bogota.
In 1971, I decided to return to the United States and moved to New York City. I attended New York University and worked in the Administrative Offices of the Development and Communications Departments of New York University Medical Center.
It was in New York where I met Jacob Levy, born in Aleppo, Syria, who as a toddler emigrated with his parents to Colombia. Coincidentally, our families lived in Cali just a few blocks from each other, and serendipity worked its way for Jacob and I to meet in New York instead. In 1974, Jacob and I got married, and the following year we moved to Miami, Florida.

three children, I completed studies in interior design and real estate. We also owned a travel agency which gave our family the pleasure of visiting interesting places throughout the world and learn the countries' history and culture.
Jacob and I feel blessed for the family we have and are extremely proud of our children Jessica (David Dubowy), Alegre (Moshe Cosicher) and of our son Jonathan. Our daughters have made us grandparents to Adriana and Ryan. We are also blessed for the support and love of relatives, friends and neighbors.
It has been 32 years since we live in the Island of Biscayne Point, in Miami Beach --same house, same neighborhood. In our home we are strong believers of contributing time to the welfare of our community. Throughout three decades, I have volunteered my efforts in various civic committees in the City of Miami Beach; in our synagogue -Temple Emanu-El of Greater Miami; the PTA of the Lehrman Day School that our children attended to; and in our neighborhood's homeowners association,-BPHA, of which I am its President.
It is wonderful to look forward to the Summer of 2014 when we will join in celebration of our 50-Year High School Reunion. I will miss reuniting with two dearest friends: Karen Sandland and Allen Stump, who were taken from us way too soon; but It will be a thrill to walk the spacious halls of BWHS, to greet "and recognize" each other, and to replenish our long-lasting memories. Hope to see you "later". Best,
Lucero
