Lucia's Story
Life
Well, all that I've learnt has come handy! Don't regret anything I've gone through nor all the people that I've met and those I have loved. I achieved a Systems Business Analyst degree from the UFM 1982 and worked for Forex Neptune and UNICEF. I lived in Guatemala til June 1984. Then life took me to the US, Costa Rica, then the UK, where I arrived in 1985 aged 25 and already a mother of 1 beautiful girl.Since then I've studied and worked in and for The University of Liverpool and have lived in the NW of England in the Merseyside county. I have 2 postgraduates: "Medical Statistics and Computing" and "MA in Latin American Studies/Quality of Life Analysis". The work I've loved doing is analysing research data, but I've worked 12yrs for Computing Services of the UoL as a software support specialist. I am divorced and have 4 kids: Sofia Ines (22), Natalia Maria(18), Henry Emilio(8) and Jeffrey Alberto(6). I am now something I define as a Guatemalan-born British ;) and I love being alive!
Workplace
...Expand for more
I worked almost since I left school for various companies in Guatemala. The last 2 I worked for as Accountant were an international French company (Forex Neptune) and UNICEF Central America Regional Office. I then worked for 1 year 1984-1985 for the Consulate of Guatemala in Miami, Florida. Arrived in the UK 1985, worked voluntarily for the School of Tropical Medicine designing survey data entry and applying statistical tests to data, using SAS and SPSS. Worked as a PA for a year before having my 2nd baby in 1986. Then studied my 1st masters bet 1987-1989. Started working for the University of Liverpool, Liverpool, UK since 1989 and have worked for the Departments of Sociology and Sporsts Science as a Research Assistant (1989-1992) and for Computing Services as a Software Support Specialist (1992-now). I did my 2nd masters part-time 1993-1995 in Latin American Studies with emphasis on statistical analysis...what else?! I know, it's kind-a-mixed my work and studies, but that's the way it's been. And yours?
