Luke's Story
Luke Davis has served churches in Toronto, southwestern Ontario and Michigan as Organist and Choirmaster. He is an alumnus of Trinity College, University of Toronto, (B.Sc.) and the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto (Mus. Bac. Perf.) and the Royal Conservatory of Music (A.R.C.T.). Luke subsequently earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Western Ontario and taught for the Thames Valley District School Board (Ontario) with responsibilities in vocal music, classroom subjects and school librarianship. In 2001 Luke pursued graduate studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a concentration in Organ and Church Music. cation (2005), while teaching courses in Elementary Music Methods and Music Theory at the University of Michigan. In 2008 Luke completed the degree, Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance: Liturgical, Church, and Synagogue Music, and the Certificate Program in Music Theory Pedagogy at the University of Michigan. Since the summer of 2003, Dr. Davis has been the Summer Administrator of the Mountain View Festival of Chamber Music and Song, held on the campus of the University of Calgary. Dr. Davis is the Director of Music at Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church in Dearborn, Michigan, a post he has held since fall 2005. He will a Sessional Instructor and Faculty Advisor for the 2008-2009 academic year at the Faculty of Education, University of Windsor.
