Luke's Story
Since I was a boat with a broken rudder going around in circles and un sure of why I wanted to do in life, I joined the U.S. Navy right after high school. I followed my two older brother's lead. They also went in the Navy after high scchool. As it turns out it was the the most important decision of my life at the time. Boot camp was a wake up call. I met my future wife on my first liberty after my first pay since being assigned my ship, The USS Hornet CVS-12. We met at the now famous Knotts Berry Farm in November 1966. ike six flags and Astroworld was.) Once Ann and I met, We were together for 42 and 1/2 Wonderful Years. WOW! She was Intelligent, Beautiful, Owned a car, and had a good paying job. I was a shy, sometimes obnoxious(so I've been told), 18 year old Sailor from Houston Texas stationed in Longbeach California far away from home and friends and family. Without Ann My Navy tour would have been so so. Our Marriage blessed us with 2 wounderful children and 3 cool grandchildren. Who could ask for more? ME! It ended way too soon late April 2009 when that Evil "C" word Cancer took Ann from Steven Katie and Me.
