Lyn's Story

Life November 1, 2007 I just logged on this site for the first time since our reunion 5 years and decided I ought to update my profile (profile from 5 years ago is below). My big news is that my husband and I adopted a little girl from China last December (Anna). She has been home with us almost a year now and is a total delight. She was abandoned at day 2 of her life and spent her first 15 months in an orphanage but you would never know it. She has adjusted so well. My son adores her as do we of course. The trip to China to bring her home and having her become part of our family have definitely changed us all so much for the better. We also added a beautiful black lab (Lola) to our family. We adoped her from a shelter (she was going to be terminated) and she has also been a great, though extremely energetic, addition to our family. Five years ago I had three cats but sadly two passed away so I've now got one (Wally) who is 11 years old and trying to learn to lvie with a dog. I stopped working about 1 1/2 years ago and have been embracing stay-at-home mommyhood ever since. My son (Rob) and Anna really keep me busy and happy. Rob is in 1st grade now, is smart and very althletic and has quite a sense of humor already. Life has slowed down and is all about family. We live near the Long Island Sound so my husband and I bought a power boat a few years ago and spend much of our summer weekends with the kids and now dog on the boat. During the winter, we ...Expand for more
rent a ski house in Vermont and ski on the weekends. The rest of the time we're workig on the house and seeing friends. Basically life is good right now. I'll check back in another five years with a new update--hopefully life will continue on as is. Best to all, Lyn Bio Posted in 2002 After college lived in Manhattan for seven years working in publishing and PR. Got bored, went to Columbia University for M.S. and M.P.A. degrees and then moved to Washington, D.C. Became involved in Democratic politics on the issues/policy side and ended up working for, among others, Senator Kennedy, Senator Miklulski, the Democratic Leadership Council, and President Clinton. Met my husband in D.C. while working at the White House. One year after we married, moved to Westport, CT so my husband could start a business (he's an entrepreneur--this is business number 4). I slowed down, took a 9-5 job working for a foundation and had my son, who is now 1 1/2 years old. Also helped my husband write a business book last year (and we're still married!)which he published through McGraw-Hill. I'm thinking of writing my own book -- different topic -- if only the baby would sleep a little more! We live near the beach in Westport along with three cats. Life now has a small town feel (complete with annual Memorial and Labor day parades and a summer lobster fest). In our free time we ski, hike, read, travel, and spend a lot of time with our son. That's 20 years in a nut shell.
