Lynna's Story
I graduated in 1969, then was notified by AFS that I would be leaving shortly for a year in Belgium. I lived with a family in which the parents spoke no English. Flemish was the language of the house, but they were also fluent in French. My gazillion years of Spanish did me very little good. I was fluent in Flemish by Christmas and had a very interesting year. Came back for my freshman year at UCRiverside, majored in Theater (Acting), starred opposite my husband-to-be as Alice and Tony in You Can't Take It With You. or jobs at radio stations...ended up being hired in Bangor, ME as a TV reporter. I got a job doing news for a Top 40 am station, ending up as news director and morning drive "second banana". When Katy arrived in 1980, one of us had to be able to pick her up at daycare, so I switched careers. We moved a lot for hus' career, living in Bangor, ME, Portland, ME, Providence, RI, St. Petersburg, FL, then back to Boston. I have been a legal assistant ever since, specializing in running solo practices. I have been doing community theater most of my life and am currently active with my group as President, actor, director and general dogsbody. I garden, I read, I blog, I Tweet.
