Lynda Graceffo:

CLASS OF 1975
Alexandria, VA

Lynda's Story

Hello class of '75. I have had a metamorphosis since high school. In high school, I was the shy quiet somewhat nerdy girl who always carried around a ton of books. I loved Astronomy (Ms Hennig), Physics (Mr. Jakobowski), Math (Mrs Defusco) and Field Hockey (never made varsity but loved playing). Field Hockey and the Astronomy Club were favorites of mine. Most of you probably don't even remember me. Since then, I received a college degree, even joined a sorority (Phi Mu), with a double major in Physics and Math, and have been taking graduate courses for the fun of it. I have a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering. Then the shy quiet part of my personality mostly disappeared (I am still a little shy around strangers - or I'll compensate by being goofy). My dad was military so we moved all over, but Fort Hunt High School was fun, so when I graduated from college, I moved back to this area and have been here since 1979. I work for the Department of Defense as a Research Physicist. The people I work with can not imagine me as ever being shy or quiet. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing. I have a wonderful husband (90% of the time) and two fantastic kids (again 90%) who are now in college. I love to watch football, and ice hockey. I like television shows that are educational, science fiction, documentaries, thrillers or myst...Expand for more
ery. I love reading all types of books but I still especially love science fiction, crime solvers, forensics, mystery, technical books, military ops, and some best sellers every now and then. I love going on vacations and spending time with my family. I like camping, hiking, swimming, canoeing, snorkeling (tried scuba diving but my ears could not adjust), visiting other countries, and astronomy. I tried snow skiing; took lessons, did the bunny slope all afternoon, and then on the last run, got run over by someone and ripped ligaments in my knee. Skiing days are over. I got sick just before my first sky diving adventure, so I am still waiting to do that one. I also really like surfing the web (this can be way too addictive if you're not careful). My best friends in high school were Kathy Hughes, Vickie/Victoria Morgan (Kilgore), and Judy Jackson. I had lost touch with them after college, found them and got together for awhile, then lost touch again. Recently, through classmates.com, I heard from Kathy (she's living in Dallas TX) and found Vickie Kilgore (she is still in the area). The last I heard Judy Jackson was in Florida, but that was a long time ago. When I retire, I want to write fun books, travel, explore, attempt gardening, and still learn. This is assuming I have the mind and energy left. Take care, everyone. Lynda Graceffo (Ledford)
