Lynda's Story

Life We are part of a new church start up group called "Encounter". I, along with another lady are heading up the pre-school department. We are meeting at the Waxahachie Civic Center near I-35 and Hwy. 287 on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. If you would like to know more about the church, visit the website encounterthis.com. My husband, Mike, is in his last semester of school. When he finishes his dissertation, he will have his PhD in Philosophy of Religion. He hopes to teach at the college level. He has already been teaching as an adjunct professor at Tarrant County Community College, both South and Southeast campuses. I'm so proud of him. He has worked so hard, and God has taught us alot through this time, including how to stay committed to one another through some really long, tough hours over the past five years of his schooling. My son, Dan, is 16 now with a license, so I'm not having to be as much of a taxi driver as I was last school year. He has an economy car, too, so that helps with the gas prices being so high! He is running cross country and doing really well. He is becoming quite a fine young man, and is following Christ. My daughter, Melinda, is 13 and, as I recall, as boy crazy as I used to be at that age. She is also running cross country and has lost some weight in the process, which she is really proud of. She is a wonderful young lady and has just started babysitting for other people, too. Yea! Now she can buy some of her own stuff. Nathan, he turns nine soon, is ou...Expand for more
r most outgoing child, and outspoken. He is also very blessed as an athlete. He loves baseball and has just started playing kid-pitch league in Midlothian. He is a natural comedian, too. What a delightful boy he is to all of us (well, maybe not his sister, who he constantly annoys). Micah (he's six) is a very special child. He came as a surprise, and he has some learning needs and requires speech therapy. He is a very sensitive, affection, loving boy and is good at a number of things. He wants to play t-ball next Spring, so we're going to give that a try. He is enrolled in kindergarten this year and really liking it. I'm a very busy stay-at-home mom. I am subbing at their school (Ovilla Christian School) this year and taking care of the home front. I'm so blessed to be able to love and care for my family. It can be very hard at times, and even discouraging. But, I continue to look to the Lord Jesus Christ each day for his counsel (through the Bible) and through good friends and I talk to him about my life and trust him with it all. He is faithful. One of my favorite Bible passages is found in Isaiah 40 and it says, "They that wait/hope upon the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings, like eagles. They will run and not be weary. They will walk and not faint." I do grow weary and tired and discouraged at time, but when I do, I put my hope and confidence in the fact that God never tires, sleeps, and He is there for me, through Jesus Christ. May God bless you.
