Lynda's Story
I'm married this year is be our 48th anniversary. I was going with him when I moved to Fort Worth. We have four sons, four daughter-in-laws and 12 grandchildren.
I was active in D.E., and worked most of the time so I didn't get to know many students. The ones I did were great! I wish I had been more outgoing, instead of shy. I would have gotten to know more of you.
Since High School, I have worked several jobs, plus been a stay at home Mom. At first we lived in Dallas, TX and I worked down town at an Insurance Company. When we started our family, I quit work until all the boys were in school.
I quickly found out you could only bake so many cookies and clean the house so many times before you went crazy!!!
So, I went to work for Dallas ISD, as a secretary. That way I could keep up with my boys and work also. When we moved to Arlington, I went to work at Arlington ISD Administration Bldg. and the Mansfield ISD Administration. Before I knew it, I was secretary to the Asst. Superintendent to Personnel, a job a loved. I hadn't planned on making it a life time job, but 26 years later, I finally notice I hadn't stopped working when they all graduated college.(ha)
My husband retired in 1998 from TXU and I retired in 2004 from MISD. That lasted about a year. I then volunteered for three years at Methodist Mansfield ...Expand for more
Medical Center on the surgery floor. It reminded me of the very first job I had as a teenager, working at a hospital and nursing home.
So, now I work for a company called "Comfort Keepers" which takes care of people in their homes, so they do not have to go to Nursing Homes or right after they get out of the hospital and need extra help. I think I have finally found my calling. Along time a go, I was told I should have been a nurse, and they are right. I work with Disabled Patients, Surgical Patients, Hospice Patients, and elderly patients who just want to stay in their homes as long as possible.
But of course, we find time to have fun. My husband, Michael and I, love to travel. We have been to the Hawaiian Islands 4 times, Maui being our favorite. We love to take cruises: Alaska, East and West Caribbean. There are still several states that we haven't been to, I want to make them all. Plus there is still lots of Horse Racing and Gambling I plan to do, before I retire again (ha).
Some of the things that interest me is: horseback riding; four-wheeling; and I am interested in genealogy and have been working on that for 30 years. I have Michael's mother's family back to 990 AD. I only have my family back to the 1400 century. But will keep working on it.
Plus with 12 grandchildren, we never have a dull moment.
