Lynese's Story
Life
I have lived in Hamilton Ohio since 1991 with my husband of 30(gasp) years, Dennis and our two children, Ben, 25,who currently teaches middle school in Columbus Ohio and daughter, Mindy, 21, who is a senior at Miami(OH) University in Oxford Ohio. We left Eagle Rock for rural, southwest Ohio where Dennis grew up. We enjoy our five acre mini-farm complete with large garden for canning and a barn with our very own horse. I am in my thirty-second year of teaching. I am an elementary school teacher after being inspired by all of the cool student teachers from Occidental College that we used to have at Eagle Rock Elementary. After beginning my teaching career in L.A. I have taught K-5 and am currently teaching kindergarten in an small urban school district about ten miles east of where we live. My current hobbies center around knitting and...Expand for more
creating rubber stamped greeting cards for friends and as a fund-raiser for Breast Cancer research and mission trips at church.
College
I attended Pasadena/Point Loma Nazarene College. My freshman year the college was located in Pasadena but we moved to a new campus my sophomore year and changed the name to Point Loma Nazarene College. I majored in child development to reach my goal of becoming an elementary school teacher. I loved the college experience, made lifelong friends and strengthened my faith in God in a small, nurturing Christian college. I will always be grateful I had the opportunity to go away to college. PLC(now PLNU) has a beautiful campus located in San Diego on Point Loma with views overlooking Sunset Cliffs and the Pacific. There is nothing like the breathtaking sunsets or watching whales migrate out your dorm window!
