Technically, I'm "retired".... tho do volunteer work for and w/veterans... Retirement was more a matter of circumstance than planning as my husband became very ill in 2001, while we were here checking on the building of our home on Kaua'i. He was hospitalized in HNL, and died at the end of 2001. I stayed to deal w/the contractor, and try to finish things...always intending to return to SD. We'd spent all our nearly 24 yrs of marriage there and had many friends. However, things here took on a life of their own, and in '06 realized that I was very sad every time I returned to SD. come to love it here. Sold our lovely SD house, and have been here ever since. Regrettably, we didn't have children, but have many wonderful friends, and several wonderful dogs...Still have two, a dachshund w/attitude, and a loving Springer Spaniel. Last year started paddling w/one of our local Outrigger canoe clubs. Have been doing OC6 paddling, and did several Regatta races this season. Next year, maybe one long distance race, if I'm good enough. Have also paddled.an OC1 a couple of times...think I'd like to get an OC1 if I get good enough...So great to be on the water!! Do some travelling as well. Aloha!
I did get that OC! w/one of the other Club members. It's a ultra lite Pegasus...great boat! Now I just have to get a lot better at paddling the OC1. Will start back OC6 practice in a few weeks. Beautiful weather on this New Year's Eve day 2011! Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!
