Lynn's Story
After graduating in 1972 I spent time in Mississippi working with the Mennonite church in the Black Community. Came back to Long Beach and hung out for a time. Tried to reconnect with Dorothy Bly but¿.1975 Moved to San Francisco and worked for the Fireman¿s Fund. Was on a computer all day. Hey this was way back before most of us even knew what computers were, we¿re talking green screens. Tried to reconnect with Dorothy again, but I just lived to far away and I did know she cared one way or another about me.
I realize this is all very boring so I¿ll jump to the present. In 2000 I got hurt with a back injury and it put me on the sidelines. 2004 I moved my mom to Carson City, Nevada and ended up staying. I couldn¿t work and needed something to do. I got involved with Black Powder shooting. While putting my Black Powder persona together a friend of mine suggested that I start weaving. Because I can¿t move around like I use to this does give me a creative outlet. I weave straps for Black Powder Shooting bags and Powder horns. Come take a look at TheWeavingWelshman dot com.
After purchasing two different looms I was still unable to get the results I wanted. So I built my own loom. I also have a new Swedish Loom that I am learning to weave on.
Now to the present: In March of 2009 I was invited to go to the state of Washington by my new buddy Jim to participate in the larges Black Powder show on the west coast were I gave weaving demonstrations on my floor loom.
I had contacted Dorothy Bly on Classmates in January. When she found out I was headed up to the Northwest she and her husband invited me to come spend the night on my way back home to Carson City. After the show I went to Coeur d¿ Alene, Idaho and spent a nice afternoon and evening with Al and Dorothy. It was nice seeing my old friend Dorothy and knowing she had done so well for herself.

t in contact through email and phone. As Al became sicker I let Dorothy know if she needed any help I would come and help her and Al.
I was headed to Washington in May to do a four-month Black Powder circuit with my loom when Dorothy called me April 27th and told me Al had taken a turn for the worst and really need my help. I wasn¿t due to leave for another two weeks, but after hearing the fear and hopelessness in her voice I packed up and left that night for North Idaho.
I am glad I did. I arrived the next morning and Al died that night. I was glad Dorothy wasn¿t alone. I stayed the two weeks helping Dorothy with the funeral and just coping with the lost of her husband. During that time I got to know some of her fiends and realized she had surrounded herself with great people and had a great life in North Idaho.
I went on to the first show of the season for five days while keeping in contact with Dorothy by phone to make sure she was doing okay. She asked me to come back during the lull between shows and we discovered we both still or had rekindled feelings for one another. For more details into the history of Dorothy and I go to her page, she has it all listed out.
Bottom line here is: after David Star Jordan High School in 1972 I went, I seen, I did what ever, when ever and how ever I wanted for many many years. But the only thing that has matted to me is being married to the girl I always wanted. In under 45 minutes I acquired one wonderful wife, one daughter, four grandkids, one great granddaughter and two beagle dogs.
Dorothy has help in giving me back my relationship with G-d. Dorothy and I are living our lives out while walking with Him in His Torah.
Final word: Never give up your dreams. Always do what is in your heart. Never regret the choices you make in life for better or worse and just have fun. I am living proof that your dreams do come true.
