Lyn's Story
Life
Well, I lived in different U.S. cities/towns after graduating high school. I lived in NYC, West Palm Beach, Los Angeles, Long Island (Atlantic Beach, Montauk, Woodmere) Boston, the Bronx, and Albany (a few times!). The older I got, the more I kept coming back to Albany to be closer to my family. I've back-packed through Europe two times and would love to move abroad someday, if I could swing it (in particular, Italy). I moved back to Albany a few years ago and have now settled here. I met my husband Justin while working in the hospitality field. We have been married for six years, and have two girls. Julia is 2 and Lily was born in October 2007.
School
I have so many great memories of high school, and truly loved all the good and bad that went along with the experience. These days, I love hearing music from that era, because in an instant you are transported back to homecoming, dance marathon, prom, a football/basketball game, or even just to youth again.
Looking back though, I realize that I am a nicer/kinder person now than I was in high school...it's amazing what time, life's experiences, growth/maturity, change, and many years in between can do!
College

e there! After graduating, I transferred to the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. This was a dream of mine since high school; however, by the time I arrived at F.I.T., my dreams had definitely changed! I stayed 1 semester, then transferred to SUNY Albany, where I received a B.A. in English/Art History minor. Some day I hope to pursue a master's degree in Counseling Psych. or Special Ed.
Workplace
Well, I've had a million jobs, that's for sure!! I've tried so many different careers...to name a few: hotel/hospitality, restaurant business, entertainment field, public relations, advertising/marketing, retail, administrative work (repeatedly!), and now human services. I think I have found my home in the human services field. For over two years I have been working as a job coach/developer for Albany New Visions/ARC. I work with mentally retarded adults in the community, while they are on the job. I can finally say that I love my job, and it is extremely rewarding. In the past I have enjoyed doing volunteer work at St. Peter's Hospice, have helped to teach religious education to young adults at St. Margaret Mary's church in Albany, and currently volunteer at Literacy Volunteers of America, teaching basic literacy to adults each week.
