Lynn's Story
I have a BA degree from UNI and an AA degree in Deaf Communications from St. Louis Community College. I married my husband Stan, who I met at UNI, and who is from Des Moines, in 1978, so we have been married 32 years. Right after we married we went on a "working honeymoon" for 2 years in the Peace Corps to the Kingdom of Tonga in the South Pacific where I was a Home Economics teacher, and Stan taught math & science. About a year after we returned to the US, we went into the Army and went to live in Heidelberg, Germany for 4 years. I worked as a diet aide in a hospital kitchen and Stan was in personnel. e home, our only child Jenny was born.
Then Stan got work with the IRS, initially in Mason City, but soon he was able to transfer to Des Moines. We bought our first house there & stayed 5 years, but 16 years ago he was transfered here to St. Louis. He works in Quality Control over the call center so the public can get the most accurate answers possible. Our daughter graduated from college in 2009 with a psychology degree, and married in June 2010. Her husband is an aerospace engineer working for a company that contracts for NASA and the US Army in Baltimore, MD. I enjoy keeping busy with my church projects, choir, playing cards with friends, and the sewing & crafts I love so much.
