Lynn's Story

Life Hi everyone . .. I was glad to see Rusty listed here (hey friend!) And Nancy Carr(hey Nancy!:-) This has been a fun stroll down memory lane! I'm sitting in the Florida Panhandle now, on the coast... married, and have five great kids! The ages go from 24, 23, 16, 12, and 8! There was a running joke in the town where I used to live -- that I would never graduate from the local preschool!! :-) It was looking true! But I wouldn't trade it! I'm a stay home mom which is what I always wanted to be! We have 2 dogs - a collie and a beagle! I'm wondering if Rusty remembers my old English Shepherd named Kelly?? She snagged his pants one day while he was at our house!! Sorry Rusty! She was really a good dog, but very protective of us! It's been fun to see so many familiar names here! I'll be back soon, to visit! I'll post a message to the boards and leave my URL and email there. Bye for now! Love, Lynn UPDATE- Nov 2005 After graduating in 1974, we remained in the Atlanta area for another year, then my family moved to Birmingham, AL. Eventually we ended up in Selma, AL where I married in 1979, and began a family in 1981. I have 5 kids - 24 (son)... 23(daughter)... 16 (son)... 12 (daughter) and 8 (daughter) The 2 oldest are in college in Alabama and the 3 youngest are of course, still at home. It hardly seems possible that I've been married going on 27 years now. I don't even feel 27 years old!!! But I must be, since I have kids in their 20s! I've been at home since my first was born, and thankful to God for that privilege. It has been a struggle financially, but I would do it again. We lived in Selma, AL for more than 20 years so all our kids were born there. We're now living on the Gulf Coast in the Florida Panahandle. Love the laid back coastal living, love the ocean - but the hurricanes have really been trying, this year! They keep you on edge, for sure! Thankfully our area has fared well through this hurricane season. Other than raising kids, my time is spent with an online cancer support ministry. So many in my family have died from cancer. My world has been deeply impacted by this disease, so I have a strong interest in the struggles that other cancer fa...Expand for more
milies face. If I can help another family in some small way, to face cancer, to make that cancer journey with hope, if I can help families cope in some small way - then I'm fighting back against the thing that has hurt me, hurt my loved ones, taken so much from me. So I founded "A LEGACY OF HOPE!" in February of 2000. Bios don't allow urls, but you can google "A Legacy of Hope - cancer support" if you would like to visit. The site offers visitors encouragement, support, some resources, some inspirational writings, personal experiences and scripture helps, and even personal interaction if they need someone to talk to. Like the old Peace Corps commercial used to say - it's the toughest job I've ever loved. It pays nothing monetarily -though my life has been greatly enriched as I interact with these precious families. They give me much more than I give to them. Soooooo, that's me and that's been my life, in a nutshell. I'd love to hear from some old Cross Keys friends from the early 70s - particularly the years from 72-75. I had friends in those grades. I hope life has been kind to you. It has not been without its struggles, but the struggles make us stronger. God Bless! Lynn School Inspiring teachers - I LOVED MR MAC!! (chorus) : ) I still think of him often and I know through my friend Danny Banks, a former Chorale member, that Mr Mac is well. I'm so glad. I enjoyed Mrs Grieff's (sp?) English class as well. I know - ENGLISH?? But I really enjoyed HER teaching. I really enoyed knowing Mrs Temple as well. (typing) She let us have a weekly bible study in her classroom before school and sat in on that study with us. I really appreciated that. I hope that she is well. Biggest Crush?? I can't tell that!! Hehehe!! Happiest memories- Hmmmm.. well there were many! I had wonderful friends at Cross Keys - friends who encouraged, who lifted up, who were good examples - GOOD FRIENDS. I enjoyed the play productions - I was always "behind the scenes" but it was FUN! And I loved all the choral programs. Would I do it again?? Hmmm... probably NOT! : ) Growing up is tough and I wouldn't wanna have to do it again! But I would love to see my friends again!
